You should have now received either through your child bringing them home or via mail, an interim or a letter of concern for each of the courses your son or daughter is taking. Mr. Parker along with our teachers are working very hard to identify struggling students early in order to both encourage and provide additional support in order to improve their success rates. This is done at this time of year to give you as parents a snapshot of how your son or daughter is doing with their schoolwork. If you have any questions or have not received a report please let us know either at the office or by contacting the teacher directly. Our sports programs are now fully under way. Our volleyball teams, both junior and senior boys and girls, are now in the middle of their seasons. It is great to see this program continue to develop. We are being successful in varying degrees at the different levels. Our boys soccer is also up and running with a great season again being undefeated thus far. Basketball is also beginning with early opportunities for players to practice their shooting etc. Mr. Abernethy has our student leadership team up and running and have already had events for our students. Stay tuned for more to come. A big thank-you to our coaches, both teachers and parents, for their contribution to the extracurricular programs for our students. These are so helpful to contribute to making our school a positive place to be. I have reviewed the Principal’s List from last year, as you may recall this is reserved only for students who have received 90% or better in the final marks for all courses taken. As we wait for final provincial exam results we have to wait until the following year to award this. We have seen a significant jump in the number of students qualifying for this award. This is kudos to the quality of our students, their hard work and that of their teachers. We will be honouring these students at our first Recognition Assembly on Dec. 4. If your son or daughter qualifies you will be contacted and I would certainly like to invite you to attend that event. Sincerely Glen Hildebrand, Principal
