I give notice that on the next sitting day I will move:

1. That this House notes that the following truck crash related deaths have occurred on our roads since Parliament last sat:

(a) on 4 May 2016, a man died after his motorbike collided with a semi-trailer at the intersection of Forest Way and Myoora Road in Terrey Hills,

(b) on 10 May 2016, a 30-year-old man died in a four-vehicle crash involving his ute and a rigid truck on the New England Highway at Beresfield,

(c) on 13 May 2016, a 50-year-old man died in a collision between his motorcycle and a semi-trailer on Epping Road at Ryde,

(d) on 16 May 2016, a woman died in a crash ·between a truck and a car on New Illawarra Road at Barden Ridge, and

(e) on 20 May 2016, a 60-year-old. woman died after being hit by two trucks while crossing Pittwater Road at Brookvale.

2. That this House notes that it has been 43 days since the abolition of the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal.

(a) on Saturday 12 March 2016, His Excellency Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, Maronite Bishop of Australia and Sister Rose Theresa Tannous of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family and Chairperson of White Stone Support Services hosted a Gala Dinner at Fairfield, attended by approximately 1,000 people in support of White Stone Support Services to assist individuals and families impacted by gambling, drug and alcohol addiction,

(b) those who attended as guests included: (i) Archbishop Robert Rabbat, Archbishop of the Melkite Catholic Eparchy of

Australia and New Zealand, (ii) Mr Craig Laundy MP, Federal Member for Reid, Assistant Minister for

Multiculturalism representing the Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Malcolm Turnbull MP,

(iii) the Honourable Chris Cowen MP, Federal Member for McMahon, (iv) the Honourable David Clarke MLC, Parliamentary Secretary for Justice,

(c) White Stone Support Services is an initiative of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Australia and the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family and provides: (i) counselling for those affected by addiction, (ii) referral, advocacy and children's support programs, (iii) visitation and respite programs, (iv) community education programs about drugs, alcohol, gambling and their

impact.

2. That this House:

(a) commends the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Australia and the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family for their fine efforts, through White Stone Support Services, in assisting those who have been impacted by drug, alcohol and gambling addiction, and

(b) extends its regards and best wishes to members of Australia's Maronite Catholic community.

1. That this House notes that: a. the Bondi Pavilion is an iconic part of Bondi Beach with its art deco form, long­

standing place as a community and arts hub and proud history of public ownership making it a local treasure and a state significant structure;

b. the Bondi Pavilion is currently under threat from a proposal by Waverley Council to reduce the current community-to-commercial use ratio and result in the Bondi Pavilion being privatised by stealth;

c. 'Green Bans' have a proud history of protecting the States' precious heritage and public space, including Kelly'·s Bush, The Rocks and Centennial Park.

2. That this House commends the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union for placing a Green Ban on the Bondi Pavilion

3. That this House calls on the NSW Government, the Minister for Lands and the Minister for Heritage to:

a. Publically support the Bondi Pavilion being retained as a community and cultural centre;

b. Only permit changes to the Bondi Pavilion that retain the current community to commercial space ratios and that protect and enhance the historical values of the Pavilion.

1. That this House notes that:

(a) Schizophrenia Awareness Week 2016, which this year took place from 15 to 21 May, is comprised of activities which run from 14 May to 2 June,

(b) Schizophrenia Awareness Week is an annual event which plays an important role in raising awareness about this mental health condition and the particular challenges it poses, and

(c) schizophrenia is still widely misunderstood even in Australia where there IS

constant and productive work to educate and to remove mental health stigma.

2. That this House commends the Schizophrenia Fellowship ofNSW, and the CEO of the Schizophrenia Fellowship, Mr Rob Ramjan, who during Schizophrenia Awareness Week hosted a range of activities including:

(a) a Symposium held in Sydney on 28 May 2016, and which heralded the theme 'Succeeding Together in Mental Health', and,

(b) a Parliamentary luncheon held on Thursday 2 June 2016and which will be attended by the Chair of Mental Health Australia, Ms Jennifer Westacott.

3. That this House commends the important role that non-government organisations play in the mental health sphere.

4. That this House supports aims and initiatives to destigmatise mental health illnesses.

world, (ii) organising seminars, lectures and poetry events relating to Arabic folk

poetry in Australia, the Arab world and the Arabic diaspora, (iii) publishing academic studies and research regarding Arabic language folk

poets and poetry, (iv) encouraging young poets to enhance their talents.

2. That this House:

(a) congratulates those Australian poets of Arabic heritage who were honoured at the function held at Parliament House on 24 March 2016, and

(b) commends the Association for the Development of Arabic Folk Poetry in Australia and the Arab World, its President Dr Bahia Abou-Hamad and its executive for its ongoing work in encouraging Arabic-Australian poets and Arabic folk poetry in Australia.

(a) International Day of Vesak is a global annual event recognised by the United Nations which commemorates Buddha's birth, enlightenment and passing,

(b) in Australia, this year's celebration was held on Sunday 15 May at Sydney Town Hall, and

(c) in attendance at the celebration were the Honourable Shayne Mallard MLC representing the Premier, the Honourable Phillip Ruddock representing the Prime Minister, the Honourable Ernest Wong MLC as well as several other political and community leaders.

2. That this house congratulates:

(a) the Australian Buddhist community for their outstanding contribution to multicultural Australia, and

(b) the International Day of V esak event organisers for continuing to raise awareness of the teachings of Buddha on peace, compassion and wisdom especially at a time when there is ongoing conflict in our world.
