Social&Labor Convergence Project:

What do we want to achieve

This pioneering project seeks to develop a simple, unified and effective industry-wide assessment framework. This will result in a

descriptive (standard-agnostic) tool and verification methodology to collect relevant and essential data with the intent to measure

social and labor conditions and replace current proprietary tools.

To promote adoption and create scale, the tool and verification methodology will be open source and publicly available.

Industry Challenges Pulse of the Fashion Industry Report

1. Released by Global Fashion Agenda in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group and Sustainable Apparel Coalition

2. Current health of the industry : the sustainability “pulse” of the fashion industry is weak - scoring 32 out of 100

3. Apparel consumption is projected to rise by 63%, to 102 million tons in 2030, increasing the need for the fashion industry to address its environmental and social footprint.

4. Company size, far more than price positioning, correlates with a higher Pulse score: most large fashion brands show progress but the great mass of small to midsize firms representing around half of the market – a blind spot in the industry – have done little to improve their impact.

5. With population growth and planetary boundaries reaching their limits, the industry will face strained resources, putting profitability at risk.

6. There are proofs-of-concept that sustainability initiatives can present a viable businesscase for individual businesses already today.
