23 rd November 2018 Dear Parents, Some families will be making their Christmas Puddings this coming weekend, on Stir Up Sunday. We made our own version in Assembly on Tuesday, with volunteers mixing the 12 ingredients and Nour steaming the final concoction. The message focused around the many different ingredients which mature over time to make a delicious pudding – and so your children all shine in their different ways to help make the Prep such an appetising place to be! Over the final two and a half weeks of the term there will be lots of opportunities for your children to shine – whether in the remaining school fixtures, the all-inclusive House Matches or the end of term drama productions. In the week just gone we have seen an action packed girls’ hockey trip to Norwich led by Mr Artaman and Mrs MacDowell, as well as ABRSM music examinations, and our Year 6 drama club’s magnificent production of Macbeth, cleverly directed and produced by Mr Wansell and Mr Whitmell. In our efforts to help parents with logistics for next term, next term’s Clubs Booklet has been published today, with a deadline for submitting choices next Wednesday. I was struck by the 80 clubs to choose from, as well as the 30 music ensembles on offer. With all these choices available, we hope that your children have plenty of opportunities to keep growing as individuals. Intellectual Character We are focusing on developing intellectual character this year and are sharing the key attributes with you each week this term. This week’s theme is RESILIENCE. Perse Carol Service The Perse’s Carol Service will take place at St John’s College Chapel on Monday 10 th December at 7.00pm and is open to all Perse families. It is always a beautiful and moving occasion, and a wonderful way to begin the Christmas season. Seats in the Chapel are allocated on a first come first seated basis and the Chapel doors will open at 6.30pm. There are still places in the Friends of Perse Choir who take part in this service; no huge ability is needed, just a desire to take part. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested. School Photographs Following Pret-a-Portrait’s recent visit to the Prep, photos of your children are now available. A viewing card explaining how you can view and order pictures have been sent home with your child today. Photos are available at a discounted price until the Early Bird Deadline of Sunday 11 th December. If for any reason your viewing card does not make it to you in the next few days, please contact Pret-a-Portrait directly on 0800 021 7626 or [email protected]. Artwork This week’s banners are Year 6’s architecture drawings inspired by various Cambridge buildings.
