The Story of Will
By Will Wigderson Language Arts 8
Who is Will Wigderson? I am Will Wigderson, and I live with my family: my dad, my mom, my sister and my two
dogs. The things I like to do are play video games, play on the computer, watch videos, and hang out with my friends. People think I look younger than I am (I’m 13) because I am short for my age and I have a younglooking face. I live in Waukesha. Waukesha is a peaceful city. I live in a quiet neighborhood not too far
from downtown. I went to school at eAchieve for 3 years and before that I went to St. Mary’s school. Before that I went to Hadfield School. I’ve been in scouts since I was in first grade. When it was time for me to join the Boy Scouts the St Joseph's troop was just really boring so I left for a bit. Then my parents asked me to go to St Mary’s scout troop. I decided to join and I’m having a lot of fun there. My goal is to get a lot of homework done and not fall behind like the other two years. I expect to reach these goals by not getting distracted so often. If I succeed in my goal, I’ll feel more excited for next
year. I’m also going to be following a schedule so I don’t lose track of what I have to do. My longterm goal is to become an Eagle Scout. I’m in a great scout troop that
graduates one or two Eagle Scouts every year. It has really good scout leaders that really know how to help kids advance through the ranks.
Letter to My Uncle Mike “One Shot” Gillispie
Will Wigderson 1100 Anoka Ave Waukesha, WI 53186 December 2, 2014 Dear Uncle Mike, I am writing to you because you are an awesome guy and I love you a lot. You have been very nice to me since we met. Do you remember when I was little? When we went to Hawaii you showed me so many pictures of what rattlesnakes looked like. What is it like catching snakes? I really want to know why you catch so many rattlesnakes. Do you ever sell them to anyone? Do you have other hobbies?
Thanks to you, I like nature more than I used to. I did not like going outside as much before. Now I enjoy camping and hiking. I’m also not afraid of some the animals anymore because I know how to deal with them. I think you are very great guy. I cannot wait to see you when we go to Arizona. I wish I could visit you more often. I really hope you can visit Wisconsin. I hope we can talk again. Love, Will
Falling and Rising on the Giant Drop My family and I went to Six Flags four years
ago. We brought my friend Keirgun and his family. We went on so many rides like the Demon, The V2, and the Wizard. But there was one ride that we both wanted to ride. It was the Raging Bull.
I wasn’t tall enough but Keirgun was, so he went in line. I was really upset. Then my dad offered to take me on the 250 foot drop.
When we got on my dad and my friend’s dad sort of tried to sit in the seats. Then they said, “We can't fit. Oh well.”
They never intended to go on the ride in the first place. The moral of this story is that dads are chickens when riding very tall rides. I found out later my mom yelled at my dad and his friend because they left me on the ride alone.
I went 250 feet high, so high that I could see Waukesha from there. I could feel the wind blowing through my hair. The roar of the wind filled my ears. Two girls that looked older than me were screaming and there was a teenage boy that was crying on the ride.
Then I heard the click and it dropped. My shirt flew up in front of my face so I couldn’t see. When I got to the ground I was laughing. The other people on the ride weren’t, but nobody threw up.
When we got back down on the ground, my friend was upset because he waited the line out for Raging Bull. The line for the Raging Bull was about 45 mins long. When he finally made it, they told him that he wasn’t tall enough.
I told him that we should go on the 250 foot drop. So we did and the line wasn’t as long as before. It wasn’t nearly as long as the line for Raging Bull.
As the ride was lifting us up, Keirgun said, “I'm having second thoughts about this.”
I said back to him, “You’ll be fine.” When we made it to the top, we talked for
a while and I wasn’t scared at all. Then we heard a click. The ride dropped us and my shirt flew up again. Keirgun’s big smile filled his face. Once we got off the ride, we both thought it was a blast.
Looking back, that was the moment when I wasn’t just a little kid anymore. I was old enough and mature enough to handle the really big rides, even if I wasn’t tall enough for some of them.
