Defensive Handgun 101, 102, 103

These advanced defensive handgun classes will follow the NRA Personal Protection

Outside the Home (PPOTH) format, so people with CPL, or at least CPL training, can

learn skills appropriate to carrying in public. These classes are all range time, devel-

oping skills in holstering, moving and shooting, and engaging multiple targets. These

classes are listed as 101,102, & 103, with the intention of taking them in or-

der. Please see the remaining dates listed below; you can take the different ses-

sions in different months, but the classes must be taken in order. These classes will

run on Monday evenings, for about 2 hours each on the range. You will need around

200 rounds of ammo per session, a holster, and at least one spare magazine for your

handgun.

Defensive Handgun 101 Aug 6 & Oct 1; 102 Aug13 & Oct 8; 103 Aug 20 & Oct 15 For questions and more info, contact Jeff Brazo 269-689-0200 or any of the other trainers at the Club.

Michigan SASP State Shoot Set For June 22-24 This June 22-24 our Club is again hosting the Michigan SASP State Shoot. This is the third year our Club has had this honor. The Scholastic Action Shooting Program or SASP is a pistol and rifle youth action shooting sports program that our Club has participated in since 2016.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is the national governing body for SASP, offering youth from grade school through college the opportunity to safely participate in our exciting team-based action shooting sports! SASP is designed to instill in young people a set of personal values and character traits for fair play, com-passionate understanding, individual responsibility, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and personal commitment. As the sport itself, these qualities will stay with them throughout their lifetimes, helping each young athlete reach his or her full potential.

• Youth participate using .22 rifles, .22 handguns and/or centerfire handguns. • Targets are steel circle or rectangular plates. • All courses of fire are timed events.

Contact Jeff Brazo 651-9076 for more details about the program, our SASP team, or to inquire about helping at this event at our Club. We could use your help.

Hoosier Daddy 4 years ago, Charlie Reynolds asked the IDPA shooters from Indi-ana to host the regular July IDPA match so he could take a day off. They agreed and in preparation used every moving target, barricade and target stand that was available at the time. The storage shed was completely emptied and a great time was had by all. The feedback prompted Charlie to proclaim that henceforth, the July match would be known as the Hoosier Daddy match. This year it falls on Sat., July 28. In 3 years, this match has grown to 10 stages, draws shooters from 5 states and last year’s record attend-ance was almost 80 shooters. More are expected this year. (A regular match expects 30 shooters and 5 stages.) So, all hands on deck. The goal this year is to break last year’s record by 20 shooters on our way to achieving a full-fledged, sanctioned IDPA event. We’re almost there. We could use volunteers this July. We’ll need some help herding cats and scoring on match day. We’ll be setting up Wed & Thurs, July 25 & 26. Fri. the 27th, the staff will shoot the match. Sat, the event will con-sume most of your day but we’ll serve lunch and you’ll get a spiffy t-shirt. If you’re available to help any, part or all those days, please contact Mike directly. (574-202-0641) There’s always something that needs done. And of course, shoot the match if you wish. Details are at: https://www.facebook.com/stjoecoconservationclubidpa https://practiscore.com/4th-annual-

hoosier-daddy-classic/register We’re looking forward to it. Do join us! Submitted by Mike P.

RIFLE & PISTOL RANGE UPDATE

There have been a few delays in the start up of the pro-ject due to some missing insurance details with a few of the contractors. Some of these have been straightened out, but a few are still pending as of this writing.

The ground work has begun first in removing some trees and dirt to lengthen the range out to the 300 yards. There may be periodic range down time especially when workers are present! Also please do not use the range while there is equipment visible on or within the shooting range as it could cause not only damage to their equip-ment, but could cause a safety issue as well. We ask for your patience during this time for the future betterment of the club ranges. This phase won’t last forever.
