Worship & Prayer PRAISE TO THE CREATOR The first reading, from Proverbs, is a beautiful doxology of the glory of Christ, who existed before all of creation. Christ is the Wisdom of God spoken of in the verse: “from of old I was poured forth, / at the first, before the earth” (Proverbs 8:23). Christ is described in terms of preexistence, of knowledge and wisdom of God, as the Child of God in whom the Creator delights, playing on the earth and de-lighting in the human race. Psalm 8 continues this hymn of praise to the Creator, enumerating all the wonders of creation, and marveling at the wonderful truth that God has put humanity at the forefront of it all, making us a little less than angels, “crowned with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:6). © Copyright, J. Pentecost Sunday Puzzle Solution

When the Holy Spirit filled the disciples they were able to do something that would help them to spread the good news of Jesus. ANSWER: THEY WERE ABLE TO SPEAK IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES

Dear St. Veronica Parents, Parishioners and Friends: During this school year our St. Veronica School par-ticipated in the “My

School’s Cool” program, which is coordinated by The Shops at Tanforan. The program be-gan in September, 2009 and will run through June 15, 2010. Although the academic year will soon come to a close, we all can continue to support this fund raising effort and help our school continue to earn points. Each dollar spent at the mall earns our school one point. Receipts will be rounded to the next whole dollar at .51 cents. If you have any receipts/purchases from any of the stores at Tanforan dating back from Sep-tember 2009 until June 11, 2010, or plan to make any purchases by June 15, please turn those in to the school office or rectory in an en-velope marked “My School is Cool”. Copies of receipts are acceptable if you need to keep the original. Movie ticket stubs are also eligible. Our parish school has a chance to win up to $10,000 if we come in 1st place. Thanks for your support.

The finest tribute we can pay

Unto our hero dead today, Is not a rose wreath, white and red, In memory of the blood they shed; It is to stand beside each mound,

Each couch of consecrated ground, And pledge ourselves as warriors true

Unto the work they died to do.

Into God’s valleys where they lie At rest, beneath the open sky,

Triumphant now o’er every foe, As living tributes let us go.

No wreath of rose or immortelles Or spoken word or tolling bells Will do today, unless we give

Our pledge that liberty shall live.

Our hearts must be the roses red We place above our hero dead;

Today beside their graves we must Renew allegiance to their trust;

Must bare our heads and humbly say We hold the Flag as dear as they,

And stand, as once they stood, to die To keep the Stars and Stripes on high.

The finest tribute we can pay

Unto our hero dead today Is not of speech or roses red,

But living, throbbing hearts instead, That shall renew the pledge they sealed

With death upon the battlefield: That freedom’s flag shall bear no stain And free men wear no tyrant’s chain.
