The Sleek Geeks Science Eureka Prize is back in 2019 Calling all kids with knack for science or a passion for filmmaking! It’s time to ask a question – big or small – and get your cameras rolling as you seek the answer. Sponsored by the University of Sydney, the prize encourages students to explore a scientific concept, discovery or invention, or test their own scientific hypothesis, in a 1-3-minute film. Anything goes, as long is the science is real! The prize is open to primary school students studying in Australia and its territories, with students educated at home also eligible to enter. There is a total prize pool of $3,000 to be shared between the winners and finalist representatives also win a trip to Sydney for the black tie Australian Museum Eureka Prizes Award Dinner at Sydney Town Hall. The Sleek Geeks Science Eureka Prize is delivered as part of the prestigious Austra- lian Museum Eureka Prizes, which raises the profile of science in the community by celebrating outstanding achievements. The Sleek Geeks Science Eureka Prize is back in 2019

Calling all kids with knack for science or a passion for filmmaking! It’s time to ask a question – big or small – and get your cameras rolling as you seek the answer.

Sponsored by the University of Sydney, the prize encourages students to explore a scientific concept, discovery or invention, or test their own scientific hypothesis, in a 1-3-minute film.

Enrolments are open for Term 1 of 2019. The theme is “Mission 2 Space” where kids

discover some incredible structures at Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39,

travel the surface of the moon on a lunar rover, and explore Mars onboard the

“Curiosity”.

Schools and students can now be a part of one of Australia’s most prestigious art competitions, the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize.

Students are invited to submit a photo they have taken that tells a story of life in Australia; the places, people and lifestyle that make our lovable country quintessentially Australian.

Student and School Prizes: $5,000 each for the Winner and their School (Years 11- 12) $3,000 each for the Winner and their School (Years 9- 10) $2,000 each for the Winner and their School (Years 7- 8) A camera for each K-6 Student Finalist

Finalists from each category will have their photograph exhibited as a part of the 2019 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize Exhibition at historic Juniper Hall (as part of the Head On Photo Festival, Sydney).

How Schools Can Participate Attached is a JPG to include in your school newsletter and an A4 flyer to use where appropriate on your noticeboards. We would very much appreciate you telling your school community and particularly the arts department about this opportunity. Apart from the prize money, it’s a great way for students to experience the arts world in Australia and flex their creativity.
