« Benevolent like Him »
The law that gives life anew
They are strong, the words pronounced by God,
the apostle Paul and Jesus!Prohibitions and limitations, madness, wisdom,
weakness, strength. All these words are anchored through the psalm:
"The law of the Lord is perfect, that gives life anew”.

In Biblical times, the world is divided and hostile. The famous “ten commandments” marked togetherness.
![Page 6: The sign of his body presented as the image of theTemple. "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up" (Jn 2:19) Cross through death to.](https://reader038.fdocuments.net/reader038/viewer/2022110209/56649dff5503460f94ae84f5/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
In the light shed by the resurrection of Jesus,
the limits expressedin the Ten Commandmentsbecome something other
than obstacles or barriers. They are now
paths of respect.Anyone can have access
to God’s heartand to the dignity of the resurrection.
( Exodus 20, 1-17 )

We sometimes caricature the precepts of the law of Moses. But for the Jewish people at the time, it was gold and honey.
Whether we call them law, charter, or commandments
these standards were worthy of fear and of respectbearers of life and wisdom.
God's ways are perfect
Ps.

Between signs expectedand wisdom soughtthe cross of Jesus
gives a unique answer,in the search for
meaning.This answer does not
satisfy eitherJew or Gentile.
Yet far from beingmere folly or weakness,
the Messiah crucifiedexpresses the power
and the wisdom of God. (1 Cor 1.22 to 25)

Jesus pulls no punches inthe "spring cleaning" of the temple. For the Jewish people, the sanctuary had a crucial function.
In the heart of the chaos that had invaded the holy place, Jesus announces that God will be made manifest to his people. "There will not be any more merchants in the house of the Lord of the universe,on that day. " ( Zec 14,21 )

In the heart of Lent, the action and the word of Jesusarouse in us important issues.
Are we "transparent" enough to letGod appear through our actions and our organizations?
![Page 11: The sign of his body presented as the image of theTemple. "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up" (Jn 2:19) Cross through death to.](https://reader038.fdocuments.net/reader038/viewer/2022110209/56649dff5503460f94ae84f5/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Our consistency from day to day can offer a clear messageabout Jesus, God's messenger par excellence,
Messiah crucified, but above all risen. That is the price of the new evangelization.
We should find new ways
of proclaiming the Gospel
in today's world...
And if we tried
to proclaim it
with a smile?

God’s Foolishness, Humanity’s strength
To respect certain limits in our behavior is already an eloquent language...
The commandments help me choose ways of doing things that really make a difference.
Limits that increase our benevolence for others, this is God's proposal in the commandments.
Our world is in great need of it.

Lent is a favourable time for letting Christ serve us so that we in turn may become more like him. This happens whenever we hear the
word of God and receive the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. There we become what we receive: the Body of Christ. In this body
there is no room for the indifference which so often seems to possess our hearts.
![Page 14: The sign of his body presented as the image of theTemple. "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up" (Jn 2:19) Cross through death to.](https://reader038.fdocuments.net/reader038/viewer/2022110209/56649dff5503460f94ae84f5/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
For whoever is of Christ, belongs to one body, and in him we cannot be indifferent to one another. “If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honoured, all the parts share its joy” (1 Cor 12:26).
