The savings don’t end there. Recently the Shire administration building was fitted with 60kW solar panels. The 250 solar panels are seeing 30kW feed back into the grid. This means the administration building will now be potentially producing 75% of it’s own electrical power. We are also seeing significant savings after a new boiler was installed at the Bay of Isles Leisure Centre. The old boiler shut down the wet area for several weeks in June this year. The replacement boiler will see it warming up the waters of the BoILC for the next 20-30 years, with better efficiency therefore reducing operational costs. These initiatives and savings contribute to the action identified in the Corporate Business Plan Action 2.5.3. To investigate opportunities to improve the energy and water efficiency of all Shire facilities, and community identified environmental goals of the Strategic Community Plan 2012-2022 To sustainably manage our water, energy use and facilities and investigate opportunities to reduce their impact on our enironment.
