ues “I’LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” Annual Military Benefit Concert Sunday, Dec. 10, 4 p.m. in the Worship Center.

This year’s concert will fea-ture Gail Wettstein, Soprano; Caroline Melcher, Mezzo-

Soprano; John Hyland, Tenor, Josep Peralba, Baritone; and Bob Shoaf, piano. They’ll feature a program of Christmas music celebrating faith, family and freedom. The concert is free, with freewill donations accepted on behalf of the VA Fisher House and the Center for Military Music. Note: Shepherd of the Hills will provide a chili luncheon at Fisher House prior to the concert. If you are interested in help-ing set up the luncheon and/or providing food or other items, please contact Andrea Melcher at 210-215-2269 or [email protected].

ues GIVE TO THOSE IN NEED

ues HEALTH KITS

The LWML will be making Health Kits for Lutheran World Relief. To help provide as many kits as possible, you are invited to also have a part. One kit contains: 1 dark colored bath towel, 2 bars of 4 oz. soap, 1 tooth brush, 1 sturdy comb, and 1 fingernail clipper with file. You can donate by making a kit or giving individual items. These can be placed in the basket by the LWML table in the lobby. Thank you for your part in helping those who have so little.

We would like to request gifts of new underwear and socks for the men and women at Haven for Hope; also winter coats in all sizes, gently worn, and must be clean. Larger sizes are most popular, but all sizes are needed. If you have anything else that you would like to donate, we are always glad to bring items to the shelter. A box will be just outside the church office for you to place your donations. Our Christmas service there is Dec. 20, so we request the donations be in by Dec. 3 if at all possible. You all have been very generous in the past, and they need whatever you can give. Thank you. Your friends in Christ, Pete and Ardis Geurts, Under the Bridge Ministries

Children in Sunday school will learn about Jonah. After Jonah attempted to avoid preaching repentance to the people of Nineveh, he learned the futility of trying to flee from God. Jonah’s miraculous deliverance from a “great fish” can teach us that God's mercy is great. Families can discuss: “Why did Jonah try to run away from God? What does God do when sinful people repent?”

We're going Christmas Caroling! Families and friends are invited to an afternoon of Christmas caroling! Children will love this activity! The date is Sunday, Dec. 17, 3 p.m. We will meet in the School Library. This is a

joint event offered by Children's Ministry and International Minis-try. We will carol at the refugee and international students' apartments. Then we will return to Shepherd of the Hills for chili, hot chocolate, and Christmas cookies. Contact Cindy Miller at [email protected] for more details.
