Summer Kick Off… Whole Church and
BBCDC families
Save the Date… Thursday, June 14th all ages of children and families of all ages are invited to join us at Seward UMC from 5:30 to 8:00p.m. for dinner, bounce houses, games, and a ton of fun as we kick off the summer season!!! Make plans to have a fun start to the summer season! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come… see you soon!
New Curriculum... BBCDC and Sunday School for Summer
As part of our quality improvements at BBCDC we have purchased and begun using new curriculum. All of the teachers have started to implement the “Creative Curriculum” by Learning Strategies, which is research based, active learning based, NAEYC/State of NE Standards based, and centered on the use of learning areas for Infants/Toddlers and “Investigation Theme” based for Older Toddlers/Preschool and Schoolagers. We believe that children learn best when actively engaged in meaningful play and studies of interest which provide opportunities for all areas of development. It has been fun to see the teachers begin to plan, create, and adapt their classrooms for improved quality and they are doing a great job!
As part of our Sunday School for Summer we are also using a new curriculum called, “Kids Own Worship.” This will be an engaging time of music, worship, bible stories, and centers of activity. We will begin on Sunday, June 3rd and meet weekly in a multiage setting in the UMYF classroom downstairs. Plan to join us for the weeks you are able and in town. Youth are invited to come as assistants each week they are able. Let’s get summer ready! See you at 9:30 a.m. each week!
Notes from Jo Ellen…

SUMC...On the Move June Newsletter
(A component of the Faith Community Nursing Program)
June is Great Outdoors Month! Celebrate spring rolling into summer by enjoying one of God’s best gifts … nature! Walk, run, bike, swim, garden, camp, golf, go to ball games, grill, sit on a porch with friends … you get the idea! Just enjoy the Great Outdoors. (Use of sunscreen and insect repellent is always encouraged.) Our June activity is a guided walking tour through Greenwood Cemetery, Sunday, June 24, 11:45 a.m-12:30p.m. You will not be surprised to know that Greg Zabka has always been interested in the history found in cemeteries! This cemetery is adjacent to our church to the east. As we enter through the south gate and Greg leads us on this shady walking tour, we will stop at various monuments to learn about the early history of Seward and its residents. A walk through the prayer garden at Faith Lutheran will conclude our time together. Dates to keep in mind: Sunday, 6/3 or 6/10 Leave your May activity log in the shoebox. Monday, 6/11 Drawing for the winning May “movers.” Sunday, 6/24, 11:45 Greenwood Cemetery and prayer garden walk following second service. Every day, 6/1-30 Be a part of the Great Outdoors Pending in July An afternoon & picnic at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo If you haven’t enrolled in SUMC… On the Move: Please know that you can register at any time. The registration forms and activity logs are on the information table in the hallway. Registrations can be left in the shoebox! All ages are welcome. Remember to take a red water bottle from the shelf.

accepting Giving and Service Pledges from
congregation members. You are invited to
complete a white card for your Giving Pledge, and
an orange colored sheet for your Service Pledge.
These forms can be found at the back of the church
in the Welcome Center area. Once completed, the

the offering plate during service.
April Year To Date
Expenses $32,935.71 $120,750.92
Giving $31,466.45 $120,374.74
2018 deficit $1,469.26 $376.18
“The Finance Committee has decided sending quarterly statements at the end of March does not give much information to the congregation on their specific giving. Therefore, the Committee will be sending statements at the mid-year point for giving through June 30, and then again at the end of the year to the congregation. Individual pledges will be included on giving statements for a comparison of how close your giving is to your pledge.
