We are anointed today with holy Unctionupon our heads, seeking Your redemptivemercy, and we entreat: Grant us joy andgladness by this oil, O tender-loving Lord, inYour great and rich mercy, O Christ our God.[SD]

Savior, in accordance with Your greatand divine mercy, be merciful to all. In holyUnction we symbolize Your great mercy'sfigure mystically; which we now offer to thesick anointing them with it, and entreatingthat by Your power, O Lord, You will curethem all. [SD]


Illness and distress have worn us out.Being compassionate, O Savior, wash awaythe pain and trauma and suffering, in theriver of Your tender love, O Christ, and alsothrough Your priests, as they anoint us withholy Unction. Through this cleansing, O Lord,may we gain our health. [SD]


Master, holy Unction is for us a sign andsymbol of Your grace and help from on high,and oil of gladness, O Christ our God. Weentreat You now: Do not remove Your mercyand do not despise those who with faith cryout and are ever singing, "Bless the Lord, allyou works of the Lord." [SD]
