After spending time at Sundance this past January, I got bit by the directing bug and hopped on the motion train with the release of my first fully directed fashion vignette titled Venice Beach 1969. I’m so excited to be doing more directing, I love it. Teaming up with my amazing DP Ezra Migel to create a piece that follows, Megan of Whitehouse models’ flirtatious vibes capturing the essence of Venice in the late 60’s brought to life by stylist Nicole Chandler and edited by the fantastically creative Joshua Schaffer. There are two new motion projects in the editing suite at the moment that we can’t wait to share with you, so stay tuned! We pulled off their vision of Venice Beach summer fun, capturing all the glory of their fun clothes in that magnificent location. I’m also in love with what we did this year for Kore Swim (shot in Palos Verdes, CA) & Ego Soleil’s (shot in the Mojave Desert) 2013 Spring lines. Another super exciting Fashion shoot earlier this year was for Sweden’s Next Top Model, I was honored to be a guest photographer for one of their photo challenges & we found ourselves in one of LA’s most interesting locations, a Mexican Wrestling gym. Check out the stills and check me out on TV. I was super stoked to be assigned an editorial close to my heart, supporting local businesses here in LA. I had the honor of meeting and photographing 5 of LA’s top new fashion designers for LA Confidential. It was cool to see their studios and see how they are working to innovate and create here locally in LA. A fun mens grooming editorial that came out was “Memories of Dean” inspired by James Dean and brought to life by Makeup Artist Veronica Lane and talent Nate of Photogenics. I was also very excited to get a call from UFC Magazine to point my lens at the great Chael Sonnen, for April’s issue. We shot on the Sony lot and I loved doing a mix of caught moments mixed with more staged location reportage. In celebrity news, I had the chance to meet and photograph two of the stars of the new movie PHANTOM for their movie release, David Duchovny and Johnathon Schaech. It was cool to find out that I share a birthday with David Duchovny & I loved learning about Jonathon’s travels and interests. I simply can’t express my gratitude for all the blessings I’ve seen this year in the arena of fine art with the release of my newest body of work, “Great Expectations”. This new series premiered at Barneys New York and was released at the Brett Wesley Gallery in October of last year and has been rolling steady since. My image “Awakening”, won the prestigious award of Emerging Focus LA - photo la & the Silver Eye Center for Photography Commendation. This exposure catapulted into a new California gallery representation with the amazing Joanne Artman Gallery in Laguna Beach, with my show opening this September as well as a gallery exhibit in the home of the series Palm Springs. The exhibit will also opened, April 28th during Palm Springs Photo Festival at Gallery 446. In other fun news, I was so honored to be asked back to my Alma Mater Rochester Institute of Technology to talk with the students and faculty there in the Charles Arnold Lecture series. What a dream, I remember sitting in that auditorium saying that will be me one day up there speaking and this past January I had that chance. Speaking to the next generation of image makers was exceptionally rewarding. Also, check me out on the news, CBS Miami was a guest on one of my latest shoots for Ocean Drive Magazine.
