the 2011 Annual Conference of The Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology, and Religion
November 4th - 5th Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology Brookline, Massachusetts
This year and next, OCAMPR focuses on the medical, psychological, and pastoral challenges surrounding conception.
Friday, we are graced with the presence of a relic and miracle working icon of Saint Anna, mother of the Virgin Mary, about whom we sing, “Today, the bonds of barrenness are broken…”
Our speakers, accomplished scientists and theologians, devout Orthodox Chris-tians, examine the modern science of conception, the assumptions undergirding it and consider the implications for Orthodox Chris-tian caregivers in light of the theology the Orthodox Church.

Relics and Icon of St Anna We are deeply honored to announce that attendees at this year's conference will be graced with the presence of a relic of Saint Anna, the mother of the Virgin Mary, and a miracle working icon of St. Anna which streamed myrrh for three years from 2004 until 2007. To make use of this beautiful spiritual gift, we will have the opportunity to venerate the relics and icon of St. Anna on Friday evening led by Archimandrite Athanasy who is bringing them from Our Lady, The Joy of All
Who Sorrow, parish in Philadelphia, PA.
Conference attendees are encouraged to bring with them the names of those whom they feel would especially benefit from St. Anna's
prayers, to be remembered before the icon.
Daniel P. Buxhoeveden, JD, Ph. D. received his JD in Law from Loyola University and his Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology from The University of Chicago. His research examines the organization of the cortex and how this can be applied to comparative neuroscience, medicine, and brain evolution. He is founder and director of the Religion and Science Initiative at the University of South Carolina and was awarded a Templeton Foundation Grant as Principal Investigator for the SOCNA project. He has a particular interest in knowledge and its limits in science and theology.

She is Associate Director of the Zygon Center for Religion and Science, Director of the Epic of Creation and Future of Creation Science Religion programs, and an Adjunct Professor of Religion and Sciences at Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. She is a key collaborator with the SOCNA project (Science and the Orthodox Church in North America) and a member of the Advisory Committee on Science and Technology for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.
Timothy G. Patitsas, MDiv, Ph. D. is the Assistant Professor of Ethics at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. He taught at the St. Nicholas Ortho-dox Seminary in Seoul, Korea, and at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, before joining the faculty at Holy Cross in 2005. While his main current interest is the composition of an introduction to the mystical ethics of the Greek Orthodox tradition, he also continues research in epistemology, urban economics, and anthropology. He regu-larly extends his fieldwork in the area of Orthodox spirituality, studying prayer and typicon in Orthodox monasteries and families across the world.
