San Mateo County San Mateo County is located on a scenic peninsula between San Francisco and the Silicon

Valley, offering a wide range of recreational pursuits, economic opportunities and numerous

attractions. The 700,000 residents of the County enjoy a diverse, multi-cultural citizenry,

cosmopolitan ambiance, temperate climate, clean air, rural open space, and a geographical

The Health System The mission of the Health System is to help San Mateo County residents lead longer and

better lives by protecting the public's health from environmental and communicable disease

hazards; promoting communities that make the healthiest choice the easiest choice; and

providing services to vulnerable populations. We seek individuals who are excited to

promote our five values of providing the right service at the right time and place; providing a

great experience to all who interact with us; preventing health problems through policy

changes; using the funds entrusted to us wisely; and creating a great place to work.

Family Health Services As a division of the Health System, Family Health Services aims to promote the healthiest

start and best trajectory possible for children and families in San Mateo County. The

primary programs are: Home Visiting programs targeting pregnant women, young children

which include the Women Infants and Children’s (WIC) and Nutrition Education and

Obesity Prevention (NEOP) programs; Child Health Services, which works with pediatric

providers to connect children to high-quality preventive and follow-up services; the

California Children’s Services (CCS) program, including a Medical Therapy Unit for CCS

kids; and other public health and supportive services for low-income children and families.

We work in concert with a range of community and County partners to support and

promote health and well-being. Our work occurs in community settings, including in clients’

homes, and clinic settings across San Mateo County. www.smchealth.org
