In this ever changing world in which we live, at least one thing remains constant, and that is Christ’s love for each and every one of us. I just want to remind everyone that the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays is still dispensed. So, if you are older, have underlying health conditions, have a cough of any sort, are feeling sick, or are uncomfortable gathering together in person, you are encouraged to stay home. We will continue to stream Sunday Mass on Facebook and YouTube, as well as broadcast on Atlantic Broadband Channel 77 at 10:00 a.m. and WMBS Radio at 12:00 p.m. Please note that starting the 19th Week of Ordinary Time, the weekend of August 8th & 9th, the distribution of Holy Communion will return to it’s proper place inside of Mass. We will still only have a priest and one Eucharistic Minister distributing Communion, so the flow of the communion line will continue as it has for these past few weeks. Also, when Mass is over, we are in need of additional volunteers to assist in sanitizing. If you are able to help your parish with sanitizing after Mass, please call Rita Rae at the Parish Office (724)437-4441.

Gospel: Mt 14:13–21

When Jesus heard of the death of John the Baptist, he withdrew in a boat to a deserted place by himself. The crowds heard of this and followed him on foot from their towns. When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, and he cured their sick. When it was evening, the disciples approached him and said, “This is a deserted place and it is already late; dismiss the crowds so that they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.” Jesus said to them, “There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves.” But they said to him, “Five loaves and two fish are all we have here.” Then he said, “Bring them here to me,” and he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. They all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the fragments left over—twelve wicker baskets full. Those who ate were about five thousand men, not counting women and children.

“A Closer Look at the Proverbs” is the title of a new online weekly Bible Study beginning Friday, August 7th

from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The study is offered via ZOOM and will use the book The Proverbs Explained: A Blueprint for Christians Living” by Fr. Mitch Pacwa, SJ, an internationally known teacher and TV personality. The study will be led by Molli Vassar. Participants will use their own Bibles. This week on August 4th, the Church celebrates the feast of St. John Vianney, a parish priest of 19th century Ars, France. Known for his priestly zeal and tireless work to provide for the needs of his people, especially his patience with the many penitents who flocked to him, he is the patron of parish priests. His love and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, is exemplified in the way he taught his faithful to pray: "You do not need many words when you pray. We believe on faith that the good and gracious God is there in the tabernacle; we open our souls to Him; and feel happy that He allows us to come before Him;

this is the best way to pray." As we reflect on the generosity with which God invites us to live our lives, pray this week - if possible spending time in private prayer before the Blessed Sacrament at one of our parishes - that through the intercession of St. John Vianney God’s richest blessings may be with our parish priests, Father Tony, Father Vincent, and Father Anthony, and also pray that God will allow each of us to discover His plan for our lives. ---- The Vocation Ministry Team
