R ESEARCH METHOD
O This study employs a descriptive research design as the
objectives of this study are to answer the “who, what,
when, where and how” of the subjects under
study/investigation.
O Using descriptive techniques makes it possible to present
situation or the features of high-school students having
computer-assisted language program in their English
classes which lead to their autonomy in learning.

Population and Samples
O The sampling procedure used in this studyfalls under the label purposeful sampling. The study was conducted in high-schools(public and private) having Englishlessons conducted using computers andthe Internet. There are 356 students of 12senior high-schools from 6 big cities inJava, Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung,Jogjakarta, Surakarta, Surabaya, andMalang) and 12 teachers of each school.
