REV. DR. RAINER RICHTER

“From the Pastor’s Desk”

A couple of weeks ago Fletcher Albright (age 8) stopped off to visit me in my office and show off his new hair-cut. Up to this point Fletcher was known for his long flowing curly red locks, but his new doo – well it was a buzz job! Now he’s got a new image. It reminded me of when I was a kid, how each summer me and my brothers got the same haircut – the buzz! It was great for the summer - easy to take care of and cool in more ways than one. When you got the buzz, you knew summer had arrived.Summer is a busy time at St. Peter’s. The Florida Annual Conference will be held June 1st-4th, at the Tampa Convention Center. Our lay delegates are Osie Dwyer and Rosalie Gill.

Our CEC/VPK summer camp begins for two weeks on June 6th. Pentecost is Sunday, June 12th and our middle school youth will be leaving for their mis-sion trip to Orlando. June 19th is Father’s Day. We have a couple of weddings this month; both brides have grown up at St. Peter’s! On June 26th our high school youth will leave for their mission trip to Knoxville, TN. We’re planning a church wide picnic on Sunday July 3rd at Okeeheelee Park followed by our Vacation Bible School which begins on July 5th (first session) and July 11th (second session). On July 18th our children and youth will leave for Summer Camp at our Leesburg Retreat Center. MMAD Week (Music, Movement, Arts and Dra-ma) begins on August 8th. Public School resumes on August 22nd.Summer is also a time for vacations. It’s fun to do something different at least for a couple of weeks. During your time away, I also hope you re-create you spiritual side as well. Summer is a great time for catching up on your devo-tional reading. There will be some study courses offered here during the sum-mer, so be on the look out! We have had a number of our members sign up for our automated giving plan, so when they are away they can still support St. Peter’s. Call the office for details – it’s really simple.

Oh and remember, summer Sunday worship at St. Peter’s is casual dress! Have a great summer! Grace & peace,

It is a blend of teas from small farmer organizations in Sri Lanka.Visit the kiosk in the Breezeway on Sunday morn-ings.

by Pat Banks It has been a great year at St. Peter’s Child En-richment Center! We have enjoyed so many fun activities: The book fair, the pumpkin patch, the Halloween Parade, the Thanksgiving Feast, the Valentine’s day dance, the trike-a-thon and the Spring Fair.

This year’s theme for the preschool graduation was “Children Make the World Go ‘Round” The ceremonies for the Pre-K graduation were held on May 26. The children, dressed in caps and gowns, received their diplomas from their teachers. The parents enjoyed the slide pre-sentation featuring pictures of all the children taken at various occasions throughout the year.

It is with sadness, joy and well wishes we send the children off to elementary school. The staff at C.E.C. becomes really attached to our chil-dren and their families so saying good bye is difficult. Even though the regular school year is over, C.E.C. will still be a busy place. Summer Camp begins on June 6 with 8 weeks of fun filled activities for children ages 3-6 years old. We have openings in the Summer Camp pro-gram as well as school in the fall. If interested in Camp or Preschool please call Pat at 798-3286.

Summer Music MinistryAs the heat of summer sets in, and children get out of school for the summer, and families plan summer vacations, we experience a bit of a change of pace here at St. Peter’s. Mind you, we’re still busy, but we change up the routine a bit.

During the summer, I try to get some sug-gestions of favorite hymns we can do during the summer. These usually include some of our most beloved “old time gospel” hymns. Email me your favorites and I’ll be sure to get them in for you. You can also leave them for me on our Facebook group if you are a member of that.

Speaking of our Facebook group, if you aren’t a member, why aren’t you? Our FB group is open to everyone. The group is “St. Peters United Methodist Church, Wellington, FL” this is becoming a very valuable tool for get-ting the word out about special events and cel-ebrating everything we do here at SPUMC.

The dates for our 3rd annual MMAD (music, movement, art and drama) week are set and they are August 8-12, with the performance of the MMAD Week musical at 7:00 on Friday night. This is open to rising 4th graders up through youth age. So get the word out and be sure to put these dates on your calendar!

SUMMER BIBLE STUDY

God Heard Their CryBegins Wednesday, June 8, 7:00 PM

In ancient times, nothing was bigger than Egypt. God’s people were no match against the powerful pharaohs and the strong armies of the Egyptians. You are invited to join us as we discover how God answered … and still answers … the cry of His people. Ava Sue Hickerson will be leading the class. This DVD based study is five weeks long. The cost of the discovery guide is $7.00. Call Rachel Lever, 793-5712, ext. 21, to register for the class or to request childcare.

WOMEN MENTORING WOMENBegins Wednesday, July 13, 7:00 PM

Judy Lindsay has many blessings in her life. She has a wonderful husband, two beautiful daughters and a career she enjoys. However, she has faced some tough challenges. Through it all, she has learned to trust God and allow Him to walk with her. Now, I am asking her to share some of her wisdom with the younger women of the church, as well as, with those who are young in the faith. The concept of women mentoring women comes straight from the New Testament. In Titus 2:1-5, Paul talks about the local church. He gives instruc-tions to the older men, and then he says, likewise, to the older women. These women are expected to teach the younger women about the faith and about how to live. Please join us for a four week study this summer. Childcare will be available by reservation only. Call Rachel Lever, 793-5712, ext. 21, to register for this class and to request childcare.

Registration deadline: August 15Conference dates: October 28-29

Conference theme: Imagine.“Escape from the everyday and be refreshed, encouraged, and inspired. Because the God who loves you can do far

more than you can ever imagine.”

The cost of the 2011 Women of Faith Conference is $89.00. This includes a box lunch on Friday; a box lunch on Saturday; and all program fees. This is your oppor-tunity to hear nationally known speakers and musicians. It’s also an opportunity to fellowship with other women in our church family. You can register by submitting a check (made payable to Women of Faith) to Rachel Le-ver.Rooms have been reserved at Hampton Inn. This hotel is convenient to the BankAtlantic Center, and a nice break-fast is included in the cost of the room.

CHURCH PICNIC

Sunday, July 3Okeeheelee Park

Celebrate Independence Day Weekend with friends! Join your church family for a picnic on Sunday, July 3, at Okeeheelee Park. We have reserved a pavilion, and Ed Shaffer will be in charge of the food. If you would like to help with this event, please call Rachel Lever, 793-5712, ext. 21. Watch the bulletin for details!

SURVIVOR: OUTSERVE, OUTLOVE, OUTLIVEWe had 32 children participate in the 4th and 5th grade Lock In on April 15th and 16th. This year’s theme was SURVIVOR: OUTSERVE, OUTLOVE, OUTLIVE. The kids had a great time with disgustingly messy games, sitting by the fire pit, listening to St. Peter’s Youth Band and eating ice cream Sundays from a gutter! But it wasn’t all fun and games. They heard inspirational messages on serving, loving and life everlasting. This year’s service project was a car wash that raised $318 for C.R.O.S. Ministry. Thank you to the following adult volunteers: Mary Moore, Ann Lewis, Lelaini Sambeli, Sue Gabriel, Frank Castor, Christine Oien and Paul Oien. Children’s Ministry was blessed with incredible youth volunteers: Reese Albright, Kyle Albright, Aaron Sambeli, Matt Webber, Alicia Moore, Matthew Moore, Emily Marshall, Brenna Marshall.
