The rivers of Estonia
● We have over 7000 rivers in Estonia, but only 10 of them are over 100 km long
● The Vigala River is the longest river in Rapla County. It is 95 km long
● It begins in Keava bog, Rapla county and it takes its waters into the Kasari river, and together with it into Matsalu bay in the Baltic Sea.

The Vigala river (Vigala jõgi)
The Vigala River flows through the town of Rapla
In the river and on the riverbanks grow lots of plants
Poisonous climbing nightshade (Solanum dulcamara)
Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria)
Water mint (Mentha aquatica)
Yellow iris(Iris pseudacorus)
Forget-me-not flower(Myosotis scorpioides)
Yellow marsh marigold(Caltha palustris)
Reed (Phragmites australis)
Aspen (Populus tremula),downy birch (Betula pubescens)
Hop (Humulus lupulus)
Grey alder (Alnus incana)
Bird cherry (Padus avium)
Some mushrooms as well
In the river and on the riverbanks also live a lot of animals
Painter’s mussel (Unio pictorum)
Toad (Bufo Bufo)
Frog (Rana arvalis)
Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)
.According to the local fishermen, the
following fishes live in the river:● pike (Esox lucius)● perch (Perca fluviatilis)● vimba bream (Vimba
vimba)● roach (Rutilus rutilus)● burbot (Lota lota)
● hub (Leuciscus cephalus)
● tench (Tinca tinca)● carp (Cyprinus carpios)● bleak (Alburnus
alburnus)
