LIFE AS A MINORITY IN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE…
You were able to practice your religion
You were not required to serve in the military Instead you paid a “head tax”
You could have high level jobs if you converted to Islam
Minority communities ruled themselves with a millet The millet then answered to
the ruling class

with WWI caused the Ottoman empire to disappear
