Mr. Murphy is a member of the Louisiana State Senate, a promi- nent attorney, large stock holder in the bank and oil mill at Tallulah, and one of north Louisianas most prominent citizens. The bride is a sister of Mr. W. R. Spann and a lovely young lady. L. Freeland, died last Sunday in Tensas parish, La. The deceased was about 29 years of age. The remains were buried at Westside on Monday. Benjamin Ritchie Utica, Miss., Feb. 22.Benjamin Ritchie, a Confederate veteran, died yesterday at his residence near Uti- ca. He was seventy years of age. He leaves a large family. The re- mains were interred in the family cemetery yesterday evening.Spe- cial to Times-Democrat. Mr. Ritchie figured conspicuous- ly during the days of reconstruc- tion. Years ago he was looked up- on as a dangerous man when aroused, though his kindness of heart was always his redeemiag trait.
