BRYAN – Ty Suntken smacked a grand slam to key a big five run third innings and Jake Trejo held the Bryan Bear bats in check from there as Wauseon snapped Bryan’s 41 game NWOAL winning streak and brought back a 11-1 win on Monday April 15th.

Wauseon jumped out to a quick 2-1 lead after one inning and added four more runs in the second to chase Bear starter Blake Kuszmaul. The Indians put the game away in the third thanks to Sunt-ken’s blast off the third Bryan pitcher of the day Collin Bacon and Trejo shut the door from there to preserve the five inning mercy rule victory.

Axel Bueter also had a big day at the plate with three hits and two RBIs. Dugan Shadbolt contributed three hits, including a double, and Josh Cales had two singles and a RBI. Trejo also added a double and a RBI.

Trejo went the distance, surrendering a single unearned first inning run and three hits over five innings. The senior hurler fanned five Bryan batters and walked just one.

Wauseon improved to 7-1 on the year, 1-0 in the NWOAL.

DELTA – Rodney Coblentz homered in the top of the seventh and Ty Suntken shut the door on Delta in the bottom half of the inning to lead Wauseon Indians to their tenth win of the year- a 6-5 decision over Delta in a NWOAL game on Thursday April 25th.

In a game that saw the momentum swing back and forth, it was the Panthers who jumped on top early on with a run in the first inning off Wauseon starter Jake Trejo. The Indians rallied back with a pair of runs in the top of the third off Panther pitcher Dominic Mattimore to retake the lead but Delta responded right back with a single run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Wauseon regained the lead the next inning but Delta struck twice in the bottom of the fourth and took a 4-3 lead. The Indians tied the game in the fifth and took a 5-4 lead in the sixth but Delta came back with a run of their own in the bottom

of the sixth to knot the game at 5 all. Co-blentz’s decisive home run in the seventh gave the win to Wauseon.

Suntken, Axel Bueter, and Clay Tefft had two hits each to drive the Wauseon offense as they pounded eleven hits out against Mattimore. Bueter homered and drove in two runs. Suntken added a round tripper and Trejo and Josh Cales also drove a run apiece.

Trejo was the winning pitcher for Wauseon, pitching six innings and allow-ing four earned runs. Trejo struck out eight and walked four. Suntken picked up the save with a scoreless inning of work. He struck out two and walked one.

Wauseon improved to 10-1 on the season and remains a perfect 4-0 in the NWOAL.
