What advice would you give a family memberlooking to buy a home in today’s market?
As an experienced Realtor, I’ve enjoyed helping many buyers,including one of my sons, through the home buying process. Myadvice to all of them is the same. “Stay within your financial com-fort zone because there is nothing worse than the stress created byoverextending yourself.” This advice is more important than everconsidering the current economy. Therefore, the most importantfirst step in the buying process is to get pre-approved for a mort-gage. Be sure that the monthly payment is in your comfort zone.The next step is to prioritize the features you really can’t live with-out. This might be hard as most of us have champagne taste but itwill really help you through the decision making process.
Searching for the right home is exciting when you keep an open lineof communication with your Realtor. Make sure that you shareyour qualifications and your list with her/him. Remember you canremodel a home but you can’t change its location.
