The purpose of this interactive notebook is to enable students to be creative, independent thinkers and writers.
Interactive notebooks are used for class notes, activities where students are asked to express their own ideas, and processing of the information presented in class.
Students use both their visual and linguistic intelligences
Approach understanding in many ways
Use many types of writing and graphic techniques
Each student can personalize their learning

Experimentation has shown that the two different sides, or hemispheres, of the brain are responsible for different manners of thinking. The following table illustrates the differences between left-brain and right-brain thinking:
The Left side is “left” for students. This is the side that students can use to demonstrate their understanding & creativity.
The Right side is “Restricted” and contains teacher guided notes, homework, textbook outlines

1. The notebook will evaluated by the teacher with a random check . 2. No credit will be given for any entries not up to date or on the wrong
page. 3. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain class notes and to do
the left side processing activities when they are absent. This will be treated as part of make up work for the missed class.
4. All entries are to be numbered and dated. Each entry must be recorded IN THE CORRECT ORDER.
5. A student may only copy another student’s right side of the notebook to get missed class notes. Other portions of the notebook MUST BE UNIQUE unless the teacher specifies otherwise. Notebook entries must reflect the student’s personal learning experiences.
