Definitions & Terms

What is Prophecy=> a prediction made underdivine influence (mostly speaking of thefuture).

Prophecy/ prophesy=> tell Gods truth; speakfor God.(Mark 7:6; 2 Pet. 1:19-21; 1 Cor. 13:2)Prophets spoke Gods word to a present

generation but with truths the often revealedthe future.(Rev. 1:17-19)

Definitions & Terms

Messiah=> Anointed One (Dan. 9:25; Jhn. 1:41;Matt. 16:16)

Messiah transliterates the Hebrew word that

refers to the ruling king or coming Savior. Christ=> Anointed One. One specifically

chosen for an important purpose.

The title Christ identifies Jesus as theanointed Son of God, the true Messiah, thesavior of the world.(Mark 14:61-62; Matt. 27:43;Acts 10:38)

Anoint=> To pour oil on. Usually a ceremonythat indicates a persons appointment to aspecial task. (Ex. 28:41; 1 Sam. 15:1; 17; Jesus- Lke.

4:18; Healing-Mark 6:13) Sacrifice=> Something offered in

worship(Gen. 31:54; Mark 12:33) Jesus became our sacrificial lamb so that we could

receive Gods gift of grace which takes away our sins.(John 1:29)

Sacrifice=> An individual commitment toGod(Rom. 12:1)

Sin=> Missing the mark of Gods will bychoice(Jas. 1:14-15; Rom. 7:24-25)

Action or attitude that disobeys God, betraysHim or fails to do good.(Rom. 3:23; Jas. 4:17)

Salvation=> safety, deliverance from evil,eternal life.(Isa. 12:2; Luke 19:9)

Salvation comes only by Gods grace andthrough Jesus Christ when a person acceptsChrist as Lord and savior(Acts 4:12; Titus 2:11)
