2019 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship Application
SPARK, the Education Foundation for Prince William County Public Schools is pleased to offer a scholarship of $1,500 to a PWCS graduating high school senior who plans to pursue a career in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics field. The recipient will also be eligible to apply for a Lockheed Martin paid internship opportunity.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must plan to pursue a four-year degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics -related field at an accredited institution of higher learning. The applicant may initially attend a two-year college with the intent of pursuing a four-year degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics field of study.
The applicant must have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA during his/her high school career and provide a high school transcript including first semester grades for his/her senior year.
The applicant must have participated in co-curricular school activities (clubs, sports, organizations) and/or in community activities (place of worship organizations, community groups) and/or have paid work experience while in high school. (Parts II, III, and IV of application)
A 500-word essay must be submitted with this application. The applicant must describe the experiences in science and/or technology and/or engineering and/or mathematics that led him/her to pursue this area of study. (Part V of application)
The applicant must submit a recommendation from one teacher or one employer. (Part VI of application)

Deadline for applications
Applications must be typewritten and received by Friday, March 29. Late applications will not be accepted, and applications cannot be faxed or emailed. Completed applications may be mailed or hand delivered to the SPARK Scholarship Committee:
If mailed, the post-marked date must be no later than March 29, 2019.
The SPARK Scholarship Committee will select and announce the recipient in May 2019.The scholarship award shall be based on merit and qualifications and shall not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, or disability.
