THE GREAT OUTDOORSThe Best Al Fresco Dining in the Hamptons

By Nicole Castillo

uly 4th is upon us and summer is in full swing. What better way to soak up the summer sun than by dining outdoors. Don’t miss out

on these classic Hamptons spots with the best outdoor eating, drinking, and hobnobbing.

Authentic Texas BBQ rustic roadhouse style can be found at Townline BBQ in Sagaponack, with views overlooking picturesque Hamptons farmland. And nearby, on Main Street in Bridgehampton, Almond’s sidewalk dining serves up contemporary French bistro cuisine with a side of people-watching. Looking for the best place to catch a sunset? Look no further than Beacon in Sag Harbor, where a wraparound porch offers the ultimate sunset view of the harbor.

On the edge of the village in East Hampton, Fresno’s landscaped patio, complete with a fountain, provides outdoor dining under a pergola with New American cuisine that emphasizes simple yet so-phisticated preparations of local fare. Or try newcomer Winston’s Bar & Grill, where guests can enjoy a steak and seafood menu infused with Caribbean flavors for a fresh taste of the season on their outdoor patio. In the heart of the village, Rowdy Hall, a lively neighborhood eatery, is serving up English pub and French bistro cuisine—we recommend the Rowdy burger. For fancier fare, the posh Nick & Toni’s is one of the Hamptons’ top tables. Their eclectic Mediterranean cuisine, with Tuscan and Provencal accents, puts the emphasis on local bounty from the restaurant’s garden, and their patio dining may be your best chance to spot a celebrity.

The Powerof Liposculpture

ot only is liposuction one of the most common procedures performed today

in the world of plastic surgery (third place in 2014 and up by 5% since 2013), it is also one of the procedures that has undergone the most technical advances in the past few years.

We commonly hear teams like liposuction, super wet liposuction, smart liposuction, and Vaser 4D liposuction. The thing to under-stand is that they part from the same prin-ciples, which consist of injecting a special physiologic solution to the areas (tumescent solution) where liposuction will be performed. Then, one of several techniques to help make that fat easier to suction out is applied, such as mechanical means (cannula), laser, or ul-trasound. This is followed by the actual suc-tioning of the excess fat from the site to be sculpted.

When done with the right training finesse, ex-perience, and training in plastic surgery—in addition to a full understanding of the pa-tient’s expectations—liposuction can yield re-markable results. It is common to do liposuc-tion to certain areas such as the abdomen or flanks (love handles).

My approach is to do a full body liposuction with enhancement of natural structures for a more pleasing aesthetic result. This is known as liposuction/liposculpture. 4D Vaser has be-come the tool of choice for this type of proce-dure. It allows for not only full body sculpting, but also harvesting of viable fat for transposi-tion to other areas of the body, such as the buttocks, in order to provide the popular “Bra-zilian butt lift.” Liposculpture allows the surgeon to create a more defined and toned appearance of the muscles, since Vaser 4D also provides enough heat to help contraction of the skin to a great-er extent than traditional liposuction, which did not contract the skin, leaving excess skin to contend with in a second procedure. This was typically seen in the arms and mid-thigh areas, as well as lower abdomen. In many cases, people who would have been a can-didate for a tummy tuck (removal of skin and tissue from lower abdomen) now are able to get great results through Vaser technology (Ul-trasound liposuction/liposculpture).

Liposculpture procedures are typically done as an outpatient procedure and the patient is able to go home afterwards. A total of 5

lt. are typically removed from different areas of the body. If the patient requires more vol-ume to be removed, I recommend they stay in the hospital overnight, although the great majority of patients do not require removal of more than 5lt. of fat (5kg or11 lbs.) for liposculpture.

Recovery time is relatively short and patients are usually back to normal activities in a few days. There is usually some bruising, particu-larly in the arms and shoulder areas, and also the flank areas.

Being a former sculptor and Hollywood make-up artist has led me to understand what ques-tions to ask about a patient’s physical aspira-tions prior to operating. A diversity in ethnic backgrounds brings with it a variety of body type requests. Many men want a “six pack” and or prominent shoulder and triceps mus-cles with reduction of love handles and vis-ibility of the inguinal area next to the lower six pack area under the belly button. Many times I will see women who request an “hour glass figure” with a buttock lift. Occasionally some women who are more athletic want to have visible abdominal musculature and combi-nation therapy with breast augmentation.

A milieu of pictures and images are reviewed with the patient and discussed in depth to have the same vision in both of our minds as to what the patient’s objectives and ultimate physical goals are. The key is good commu-nication and a good candidate for full body liposculpture, a new trend in body reshaping and remodeling.

I recommend that whomever performs your liposculpture is a “Core Trained Plastic Sur-geon,” who are the most qualified surgeons to perform “head-to-toe” plastic surgery.

Manhattan woman has returned to her glamorous Upper East Side

townhouse after a night out on the town to find that her air conditioner is broken and the fluid is all over her floor. What is she supposed to do? She can reach out to companies via Google, but all that leads her to is the voicemail boxes of various businesses’, and consulting the Yellow Pages leads to similar results. However there’s one free concierge service that will save the day—myEZBZ.

The innovative social platform myEZBZ connects consumers with businesses directly in real-time to satisfy requests for anything from personal projects to home repairs, like this woman’s broken air conditioner. myEZBZ enables people like this woman to quickly file a request with photos and a description, completely free of charge. Once she’s submitted said request, all businesses that can do air conditioner repairs within the vicinity of her Upper East Side abode will receive an email with

her request and all photos . This enables businesses to swiftly make a best-possible cost estimate of the repair job, which allows her to decide which service provider best suits her needs and then proceed with the transaction almost instantaneously. Each business within the platform is vetted through myEZBZ’s patent pending technology, ensuring that each one that receives an inquiry for services by one of the platform’s users is legitimate. Founded in 2011 by CEO Shana Schlossberg, myEZBZ was set up with the mission of connecting small businesses with the consumer on a fair market platform. Through her personal experiences in the telecom industry, she learned that people pay top dollar to be amongst the first listed in the Yellow Pages, because research suggests people will often ignore any listed after the fourth business under any particular subcategory. This means that businesses with more capital behind them might get listed above those which have the best reputation. To combat

this, myEZBZ prides itself on not utilizing “pay for play” measures like a top Google or Yelp search result, meaning that every business has an equal opportunity to provide services. Instead, myEZBZ awards badges to contractors and businesses based on their practices and the overall customer experience. So the small mom and pop businesses have the same opportunities as a massive corporate-run business with access to capital for boosted search results and an SEO team.

With all the steps myEZBZ takes to ensure consumer-business satisfaction, it is almost guaranteed this Manhattan woman will get optimal care and utilize this platform for other services, like finding a dog walker, personal chef, a cleaning service or a personal trainer. Download the free application in the App Store or on Google Play.

Summer Rescue and Repairhe summer months are filled with bar-beques and beach days—when we all

enjoy basking in the warmth with a drink in our hands and the sun on our skin. As uplift-ing as it all is to our moods, however, the indulgences do damage to our bodies. Luck-ily, there are ways to correct our indiscretions; here’s how:

For the Face: J. Tav Clinical SkincareIt’s a mistake we’ve all made: Forgetting to apply sunscreen. Soon enough, that beautiful summer glow fades and the sun damage starts to show. Luck-ily, Esthetician Joie Tavernise is able to aid in the correction of sun damage, with an effective approach to skin repair through non-surgical, non-invasive methods. Her spa, located on the Upper East Side, is nothing short of spectacular.

Each procedure performed by Tavernise begins with an in-depth skin analysis to ensure

its effectiveness for the individual. The LED Light Therapy treatment is a great way to cor-rect environmental skin damage. During the non-invasive procedure, an infrared LED light is exposed to the skin, and the light-energy rejuvenates damaged skin while repairing is-sues such as dark spots, facial redness, and

TBy Ally Gargiulo

blemishes. The LED light stimulates the skin’s healing process naturally, without introduc-ing other substances. The treatment has no downtime and is pain-free, making it an ex-cellent choice for anyone, during or after the summer.

Another skin-healing favorite is the Hydrafacial, which aids in purifying your skin after long, hot days. Dur-ing this procedure, the patented HydroPeel tool exfoliates the skin multiple times, using a variety of abrasive edges that suction impuri-ties out of the skin in a spiral-like motion. This creates a vortex effect, dislodging impurities safely and ef-fectively. Once the skin is purified, antioxidants and Hyaluronic Acid are applied to the skin for protec-tion and nourishment. www.jtavclinicalskincare.com

champion Justin Rose at Pennsylvania’s Merion Golf Club, it is time to test your mettle on your own private world class golf course. The US Open has ended, but Hampton Hills Country Club, with its rich history, inviting clubhouse, and impeccable golf course, is now accepting new members for its summer season.

Just ninety minutes outside of New York City, Hampton Hills Country Club is one of New York’s best kept secrets—and members like it that way. Opened in 1965, the club celebrates it’s 50th Anniversary this year in 2015.

Bookended by the 2009 US Open host Bethpage State Park Black Course and the 2004 US Open host Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, Hampton Hills is located in the middle of a 2,000 acre pine and oak tree preserve in Westhampton Beach. The wooded setting allows members to escape the rush of the city in favor of peaceful competition against a challenging golf course.

Built in 1965 by Francis J. Duane, the course at Hampton Hills Country Club is said by members to never play the same way twice. Duane, a past president of the

American Society of Golf Course Architects, frequently collaborated with famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and designed over a dozen courses with Arnold Palmer including the iconic Sea Pines Country Club course in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Complementing a full service pro shop on the premises are the teaching professionals at Hampton Hills, both of whom bring PGA and LPGA experience to deliver an exemplary sporting experience.

Jack McGown has been the director of golf for the past twenty-eight seasons. A New York native, McGown has been giving lessons for over thirty-five years. His knowledge of golf and understanding of the terrain is reflected in his dominance of the course: Jack holds numerous course records including two tournament wins on the same day.

Hampton Hills’ teaching professional Patricia Baxter-Johnson has held that position for the past four years. A Dr. Rick Jensen Certified Golf Coach and Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor, Patricia has had the honor of working with some of the game’s greatest instructors, including Chuck Cook and Todd Anderson.

Not just a club pro, Patricia has played in many LPGA Major Championships including several U.S. Women’s Opens, the Women’s British Open and the LPGA Championship competing against the likes of Annika Sorrenstam, Lorena Ochoa, and Michele Wie.

Celebrity golfers who have been known to play the Hampton Hills course include Tommy Hilfiger, Russell Simmons, Rudy Giuliani, Kelsey Grammer, Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, John Starks, FOX’s Bill Hemmer, and NY Jets’ Nick Mangold. Former New York Giants wide receiver David Tyree turned to Hampton Hills to relax shortly after making his legendary Super Bowl XLII helmet catch.

In the summer months, members can head for a round of cocktails on the clubhouse’s patio or dine inside overlooking the breathtaking 18th green. Breakfast, lunch, and a simple bar menu dinner are served daily. In between games the full bar, snack bar, and restaurant encourage a relaxing break from friendly competition at Hampton Hills Country Club.

Deron Williams turned down an offer to join his hometown Dallas Mavericks in 2012, choosing to stay with the Brooklyn Nets.

Did he make the right choice? Williams shared his thoughts on New York with Resident Maga-zine and doesn’t seem too thrilled with The Big Apple.

“I’m not going to lie. I don’t really feel so much like a New Yorker,” Williams said.

Celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson says of her top cli-ents Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez, “They are women I believe my audience should look up to.” An-derson, celebrating her Resident magazine cover at Villagio, went on to say, “We need role models where women can be out on their own, they can be moms, they can have businesses and they can be sexy.”

One of our favorite New Yorkers is on the cover of the latest Resident magazine. TV star and Kim Kardashian bestie Jonathan Cheban gives the mag some insight into his TV persona. “The show (“Keeping Up With the Kardashians”) is very real, but I’m a bit exaggerated because I like to make things more fun,” he says. The issue also features a list of 25 New Yorkers to know better and the latest dispatch from Vanity Fair writer and man about town George Wayne.

We hear…That Resident magazine just celebrated its Real Estate issue, with Douglas Elliman broker Tristan Harper on the cover, at Texas de Brazil.

Williams talked with Resident Magazine about a num-ber of topics, including his autistic son and charitable foundation. But he admitted he’s not really feeling like a local in NYC.
