In our approach, the first stepwas explaining the need forfocusing on strong orientation.

In this first manual, we wouldlike to emphasize howpowerful a good orientationcan be for overall careersuccess.

In case you don’t know where youwant to go, it doesn’t matter at allwhich road you decide to take!

But we want you to take the rightone because it will lay thefoundation for your entire career.

At the very beginning, maybe you can ask yourself:

1. How well do you know yourself?

2. What are your key drivers?

Combining your answers to these two questions will give you a direction

towards roles, industries and organizational cultures you will fit in well. Once

you fit well into a role, there is a higher probability you will enjoy doing your job,

thereby becoming a high performer, and finally a highly engaged employee who

will be well rewarded for personal contributions.

That is the combination we all aim for in our jobs, yet statistics show that only

30% of the overall workforce belong to the category of highly engaged

employees.

Imagine coming to work every morning with a big smile on your face. Even better,picture yourself on Sunday evenings actually looking forward to the next day, whenyou can continue working on that great new project… If you make a wrong jobchoice, such scenarios will be difficult to imagine. In fact, soon after integrating intoyour new team, you may start thinking of how to get out and find somethingdifferent and more exciting… Since choosing to look for a really great job is usuallyneither the easy nor the fast route, you may get stuck in something you don’t likefor a long time.

Unfortunately, such feelings and thoughts are not rare in a career. And that is whywe believe that, immediately after graduating, it is extremely important that youfind the best possible answers to the two questions mentioned above. Strongorientation will prevent you from wasting time, effort and emotional engagementon the wrong job. Instead, use that time and effort to make the right choices fromthe start so you can accelerate your career towards your aspirations.
