The Playful Dialogue Play and games are able to create interesting dialogues and relationships with visitors. Most museums therefore use some kind of games and (role) play. During a Research & Design project, done by the HKU (Utrecht University of the Arts) with the Dutch Open Air Museum (Arnhem), we discovered that the powers of using games and play largely depends on the organization and the mindset of the museum and its employees. We created an integrated game design, in which we mix content, gameplay, analogue and digital media and roles of the visitor, volunteers and employees. With this integrated design we want to research if and how we can let play become a part of the core organization of the museum. The Playful Dialogue
