This fall will be the eighth season that holes 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 17 will have electric fences surrounding

the greens. The ruling for relief will be as follows: Nearest Point of Relief The “nearest point of relief” is the

reference point for taking relief without penalty from interference by an immovable obstruction (Rule 24-2). It is

the point on the course nearest to where the ball lies: a. that is not nearer the hole b. where if the ball were so

positioned, no interference by the condition from which relief is sought would exist for the stroke the player would

have made from the original position if the condition were not there.

Due to the frost and shorter days, the first tee times and range hours have started to change. Tee times are currently

beginning at 8:00am and the range hours will be changing on Sunday, September 1st to Sunday ~7:30am to 6:00pm,

Monday ~ check tournament schedule, Tuesday thru Saturday ~ 7:30am to 7:00pm. Please contact the golf shop

staff or check the website for any other information.

Thank you to all who participated in the events during August. I would also like to thank the outside and inside

golf staff as they have endured the heat outside and my bad singing inside. Thank you for your hard work. If there

is anything that our staff can do to make your experience here at The Jeremy better please let us know.

See you on the first tee.

Tips and Drills from Corey Wooley PGA, First Assistant Golf Pro

One of the easiest ways to shave strokes off your game is by developing a strong short game, specifically

putting. It’s no mystery that if you are putting well, you will ultimately score A LOT better. Remember, a 4-foot

putt and a 320 yard drive both count for the same amount of strokes. Zach Johnson is currently one of the best

players in the world, even though he is one of the shorter hitters on tour. His putting keeps him extremely

competitive. Brandt Snedeker, the PGA Tour’s 2012 Fedex Cup Champion, was ranked 2nd in the world in putting

last year when he won.

Here are a couple drills that I practice regularly to keep my putting stroke dialed in, and to develop

confidence on shorter putts.

Short Putts – I like to utilize the small practice hole on the putting

green whenever I am practicing putting. It makes the hole seem a lot

bigger on shorter putts when you are on the course which takes the

pressure off. I measure 6 spots around the hole and out 3 feet away

and mark them with tees so I don’t have to measure before every

putt. The hole only holds 3 balls, so putt 3 at a time then pull them

out, and putt the next three.

Lag putting – For lag putting, my favorite drill is the “get it to the

hole” drill. I place the flag about 2 feet behind the hole then roll a

bunch of 25-30 footers. The goal is to get the ball to the hole but to

not hit the flag on the ground. By getting the ball to the hole you at

least give it a chance to go in.

Stroke control – My favorite drill out of all the ones I practice is the stroke control drill,

inspired by Adam Scott. I place 2 tees in the ground on each side of the putter at setup,

leaving about 1/8th of an inch on each side. Then I simply practice my stroke, trying not to hit

the tees. You can even put a ball down and roll putts at a hole, focusing mainly on not hitting

the tees. This drill is simple and can be done anywhere - put any 2 objects on each side of the

putter in your house (TV remote, other golf balls, etc.). If you are having swing path

problems with your putter, this is a HUGE help!

Jeremy needs YOU!

Every year we elect 3 new Board Members. We don’t care how long you’ve been a member,

what sex you are, or what your handicap is. You also don’t need to be a financial wizard or

have served on other boards. What we need is enthusiastic members that want to be in-

volved. The Board’s role has changed from when I came on the Board almost 3 years ago. We

now have a very knowledgeable management company, Landscapes Unlimited, managing Jere-

my. We also just hired Chad Pettingill, with tons of experience, as Jeremy’s GM. So, next

year’s Board’s role has more to do with strategic planning than running the day to day opera-

tions. Please consider getting involved and putting your name on the ballot as a future Board

Member.

Send me an email ([email protected]) and we can speak further about what’s involved

with being a Board Member.

I’ve been formally known as “Larry the Social Guy” and then I got demoted to President and

now I’m the Past President.

As we wind down to the end of the 2013 season we can look back on the

wonderful events of the Ladies’ Association. We are thrilled to have so

many new members. We currently have 138 members.

Our Tuesday / Wednesday Ladies’ Days chaired by Leah Bedell,

fun.

Our Match Play, in its second year, is increasing in participation.

Our Team Play chaired by Marie Bambo for A-Team, Christina Padan

for B-Team, Roberta Lynch and Kacy Quinley for C-Team, has been

fun and has created great camaraderie.

Our Ladies’ Invitational chaired by Laurie Smith and her committee

was run so smoothly and was enjoyed by all.

McMullin and Jayne Peterson was a huge success.

Club Championship chaired by Colleen Hoffmann took place and our

new club champion is Marie Bambo.

I would like to thank my executive board: Vice President, Christina Padan

for all of her hard work organizing the volunteers for the Men’s

Invitational, making fabulous wine/liquor baskets for the Men’s Raffle,

and being there to support me; Barb Cherrington, Secretary, for her

excellent and timely minutes of our meetings; Kathy Ure, Treasurer, for

her competence in managing our money; and Jill Candland, the lady with
