THE PIRATE CHRONICLES

During the excavation of an 18th century tavern in Nassau this

collection of Pirate writings was discovered. They seem to be

fragments of personal accounts of events in the lives of over

seventeen Pirates. It is hard to conclude if they all knew each

other but the accounts cover acts of piracy, sharing of loot,

treachery and banishment on desert islands. Some accounts

were written by Spaniards who may have become Pirates after

capture.

Pirate Attack

This morning Captain John Legoe woke us up suddenly because a Spanish ship

could be seen in the mist, not far away.

The crew bounded through the ship grabbing cutlasses and muskets and preparing

themselves for the battle of the Treasure. It was a misty and foggy day and there was

rain and dark clouds galore.

The Spanish ship soon noticed our flag and tried to sail away but we were faster,

smarter and better than them and had no problem catching up with their ship.

Their Captain fired the cannon but thankfully they missed.

We boarded their ship with screams and insults. Then, Captain John Legoe screeched.

‘Miss Sea Sparrow, we’ll distract them. You go and grab as much booty as you can

carry!’

‘Shiver me timbers!’ I whispered to myself. ‘That’s a big responsibility.’

So I grabbed all I could and took it safely back to our ship before I took a big

sigh of relief. The rest of the crew boarded back on our ship and we sailed away.

Page 3: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

...............................................................

As flames licked the deck, I

leapt aboard, my black hair

whipping across my face and

shouting a very rude word at the

top of my voice. Terrified

Spanish cowered in the corner,

whimpering at the sight of my

gun. I fired.....BANG! A

small firework of sparkles and

smoke exploded in the air. Mini burning rockets shot down into the fire.

Striding across the deck I realised that I had hit a young Spanish lass. A pang of

guilt stabbed through my stomach. I remembered my mother’s words; ‘’Treat Others

Like You Would Treat Yourself.’’ But, hey, I’m a Pirate. I’m not supposed to

have prissy little feelings! A tear rolled down my cheek. ‘Snap out of it, Silver!’ I

told myself harshly.

In the distance I could hear the words ‘Loot’ being said. I turned to see what it was

all about.

......................................................

‘All hands hoay!’ My booty swaggling Captain screeched! Of course it was the

raging Spanish ship floating near to our boat.

‘Shiver me timbers!’ All of the shocked landlubbers

shouted.

It had begun, me hearties! The old ship was sinking

low in the swaying waves, with all its booty on deck.

We had soon got into our raging poses and a 1,2,3

Oooooaaaarr! Me, Miss Plank Silver, bellowed!

We could hear their cackling laughs. They were pretty

confident, but we would get that booty for sure! They

were coming to a clearing in the dark clouds and the

misty fog. We did it again, 1,2,3 Ooooooarr! We had

soon busted onto the dark decks of their boat. Some were still on deck when, Booooom,

Page 4: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

a frightening sound shot towards our boat. I thought this might be the end but I did

not fear! I was a freebooter. I ran back to the deck. Suddenly, as we all froze,

another big black ball shot and crescendoed into a big dark boom. I’m afraid it was

all over...........or was it!

.............................................................................

I woke up and stretched. Me back felt like a piece of cold metal. Yesterday me

Cap’n, Captain John Legoe, shouted at me and called me names.

Then I heard the bellow of me cap’n again.

‘Fluffbucket, get up ‘ere and swab the deck, ya lazy

landlubber!’

I’m the ship’s boy, Fluffbucket Jim Jones. I only

got in because me dad’s the lookout and me ma’s

dead. I’m a pretty good sailor in my opinion. I

guess the Cap’n treats me like dirt because he’s afraid

I might take over!

Then suddenly the most exciting thing happened.

Me dad shouted. ‘Ship Ahoy. A walloping good one

too. A nice Spanish Galleon!’

‘All ‘ands on deck!’ The cap’n shouted in his most fierce voice.

We grabbed our cutlasses and muskets. Speeding towards the ship the cap’n yelled

over to me and I lit the fuse of our cannon. Then sizzle, BANG, the cannonball

launched into the air and the dust fell.

My friend Lydia Landlubber shouted

‘Surrender or die!’

Then the Cap’n shouted. ‘Give us the

booty!’

I said. ‘Cap’n I might be useful.

There’s hidden Treasure underneath the

boards.’

My Cap’n looked fierce and whacked

the deck with his axe. Underneath there was some gleaming gold.

‘Ar here’s the booty!’ He yelled. That’s it, except one more tiny thing. My crew

Page 5: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

need new clothes. So reluctantly the Spanish gave us their nice clean clothes, got into

their little rowing boat and set off over the deep blue sea.

‘Let’s hope there’s mainland near or we’ll die!’ I heard one of them say.

‘Let them go to the Devil!’ The Cap’n growled.

....................................................

The whistling wind flew around the rickety ship and

tugged at our tarnished clothes as we headed swiftly for

the wealthy Spanish ship. Overhead the lookout

hollered. ‘Spanish Ship ahoy!’

I placed my hand on the side of the gnarled ship and

prepared for an attack.

A bloody battle. A destructive flame sprung in my eye,

rushing adrenaline through my body and devious plans

hatched in my mind.

We held the Spanish crew hostage until they told us

where the booty was located. We had plundered another one!

................................................................................

The strong wind blew the gigantic sails above me. The boat gently rocked from side to

side as the waves the size of mountains flooded the deck. I looked down at my hands;

they had millions of blisters and scratches

on and rope marks.

‘Ship Ahoy!’ Shouted another Pirate!

‘Attack! Attack! Money! Money! We

chanted. Captain John Legoe calmed us

down a bit and I got my gun out with

one hand and my dagger with the other.

As our ship passed the Spanish I

jumped, fearing for my life!

My Captain shouted. ‘She’s ours for the

taking boys!’

I ran to him and told him I saw the

Spanish Captain. We ran to him and The Spanish Captain surrendered. I shouted

with joy! ‘Whoah!’ We all called out; happy with our triumph. Now to get some

Spanish Pirates!

Page 6: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

.............................................................................

It was just an ordinary day. I was reading my Pirate

handbook when suddenly my body began to tingle. The

book started to shudder. I shut my eyes..............

When I opened them I was lying in a worn out

hammock inside a wooden room. Just then I realised I

was in a Pirate ship like the one I had been reading

about before.

We were fighting the Spanish. Bang! A cannonball

flew right past me nearly costing me a leg! All too soon

we rushed forward frightening the Spanish. They surrendered and we captured them and

their Treasure.

We had to scare them even more for them to give us their Treasure. We sent them off

in a small boat with a little food and water to reach the closest island.

We had the money and we would share it out!

....................................................................

I’m Lids, also known as Lydia Squash-Buckle. I work on Black Sparrow’s ship

as a slave cleaner. My life is long now and hard.

‘Lydia Squash-Buckle; here this instant!’ Shouted Captain Black Sparrow.

‘Coming Captain.’ I replied. Each day

was the same.

It all started on an old island when I was

nine and I saw a ship. I lit the fire and

over they came. I signed the code and

became an official member of the crew.

Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up

that instant.

Basically when there’s a ship there’s a

chance.

You see when I started it was hard. It still is. So maybe I can go with the people

who aren’t keen to be crew. My fried Jim is one of our crew and we plan to escape

together and live our own happy life in New York.

Page 7: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

As the two ships collided I got my cutlass and froze holding my scary face. This was

my chance! All at the same time we took three vicious steps forward.

Captain Sparrow put the gun up to his rival’s neck and threatened him. Join our crew

or be set adrift in a longboat!’

Set me adrift with all my trustworthy crew who would never dream of becoming Pirates.

But..........only if my beautiful wife can accompany me.’

‘Where is she?’

‘In the Larder (down in the cellar).’ Out came a lovely girl wearing a cream dress.

‘Lads, get the bloomin’ boats ready!’ Bellowed Captain Sparrow.

After about ten minutes the boats were ready

and in they all got.

‘Now’s our chance!’ I whispered.

‘Yes!’ Jim replied.

The boats were now about a metre away as

we edged to the stern and splash. We

clutched the edge of the boat and pleaded to

be taken on board.

From far away I heard shouting.

‘Where’s my Girl! Ha! Whips for you,

Fluff-Bucket!’

Then it started raining and the wind picked

up. We were rocking about tremendously....

. ............................................................

I surrendered and joined the Pirate crew. I’m not regretting it yet but I might in

some time. I really hope they don’t decide to dump me and kick me out. Going from

the Spanish to the Pirate crew is tough. You need to know that a Skull and

Crossbones flag is good and not bad. If you see a Spanish

ship you should ............attack it!

I’ve got no clue what I'm doing tomorrow. Probably

fighting. I have to practice being fierce to make others

surrender. That’s all I know. Being fierce is Annoying and

Hard!!! Now I’m thinking.’ Do I really trust these

people or are they tricking me?’ I really don’t know

Actually, I quite like being a Pirate.

Page 8: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

I’m Bucko George of the Coast. Being on Captain John Legoe’s ship lately has

been amazing. We have just finished fighting the dreadful Spanish and I lost a limb

so I now have 800 pieces of eight!

My Captain thinks I should dip my stump in hot tar to stop it bleeding but after I

heard that people die from the shock of it, I’d rather not.

I don’t know what I will spend the money on. Maybe some new clothes? I don’t

know.

............................................................

I was looking through the telescope when I saw a huge

Spanish Galleonsailing towards us. So we set off in some

rowing boats with all our pistols and cutlasses and started

to raid it. We threw our cutlasses and frightened them into

surrender. We took all their gold and diamonds and set off

to our ship!

..........................................................................

The cold blustering wind was chilling the Pirates. The dense fog was consuming the

ship. Captain John Legoe could feel a gust as it went past. Suddenly they heard a

voice. Not of their crew but someone different. ‘Cap’n I see a Spanish flag.’ Cried

the lookout. At that moment they realised a Spanish

Ship was about three metres away from them! The

crew wailed. ‘She’s ours for the taking!’ Each

Pirate got out their muskets and cutlasses and some

jumped onto the Spanish Galleonand threatened the

crew. The Pirates faces were so horrifying they could

scare even the bravest of people.

‘Give us yer booty!’ One Pirate called out.

‘All of it!’Shouted another.

The Spanish were petrified and handed over.

‘There you go, all of it.’ Said the Spanish Captain.

‘Where is the rest of the Treasure!’ Asked Captain Legoe.

‘’There’s the key. Just take it and the ship too.’ Replied the Spanish Captain.

The Pirates cackled gleefully, taking it all.

‘Ye want to join our crew?’ Asked Legoe.

Some Spanish joined. Other’s didn’t and were cast adrift.

Page 9: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

........................................................

Dear Diary.

Being on a ship for so long is getting boring as I’m always doing the same job.

But today something really shocking happened. We fought against the Spanish. I

was the one to watch out and then shout ‘Avast ye!’ when we were getting near.

Captain John Legoe jumped onto the ship with some of the crew leaving most of the

crew, including me, behind. Watching him scaring them to surrender is quite amazing!

Spray flew onto the boat and the air smelt musky and salty. In the end we got all of

the Treasure.

......................................................................................

You won’t believe what happened to me this morning! It was

great! It all started off as a normal morning. When I got up

I dressed, and had breakfast. This is what all

us Pirates do every day. Then Cap’n John

Legoe told me and two other Pirates to pull

up the Jolly Roger.

Suddenly the lookout shouted. ‘Ship Ahoy!’ and soon after that

Cap’n John Legoe called. ‘All hands hoay!’ We all readied our

weapons and put on our most terrifying faces! Luckily the ship we

were planning to steal from was one of the slowest that sailed the

seas and we are one of the fastest! Of course we got all of the Treasure. After all we

are the best Pirates the world has ever seen.

Deadman Jack Swashbuckle. X

...........................................................................

Being on a ship is amazing. Especially on Captain John Legoe’s ship.

It’s a dream come true. We won a massive fight against the horrible Spanish.

Unfortunately the food here is grim. We have to eat raw fish.

I can hear the swish of the sea and my mates coming towards me.

I have just become a Pirate and that was my first fight. I hope it was good enough. Lady Bones of the Coast

.............................................................

Page 10: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

I was just enjoying an ordinary day playing fetch with my dog, reading my book and

watching my favourite film, Pirates of the Caribbean when suddenly I noticed the

aggressive Pirates from the movie coming out of the screen, then the crystal blue water,

then the cotton candy like clouds. Everything was coming closer and closer towards

me!......The next thing I knew I was lying flat on my back gazing at the scortching

sun... Not only that .........I was on a Pirate ship! I could hear the bellowing calls

of the loud Captain shouting commands at me!

I was a Pirate! ******************************************

It was the year 1984 when it all happened. I was nine years old and I was in my

room sitting on my bed listening to the local radio when I heard the sea. But I was

nowhere near the sea. The noise was coming from the painting I had of Pirates. But

the painting was moving today. Slowly I crept up to it and the next thing I know

I’m in 1726!!!

The Pirate in the picture was staring at me, as if appalled by my appearance. I’d

never looked much at the painting before but the Captain

was brilliantly painted. He had scars all over his face,

making him look so strong and bold. ’Get up top, Pegleg!’

The Captain shouted. ‘We need all hands on deck.’

I’m not sure what his name was but there was someone

watching a ship through a telescope and suddenly he

shouted.

‘It’s a Spanish Galleon! Get your daggers out. We’re all

going to be ruddy rich after this!!!’

The ship we were in surged forward towards the Spanish

ship and a massive fight began.........or so I thought.

We all jumped onto the Galleonand we walked around looking scary, waving our

daggers and our guns in their faces. When we came to their Captain our Captain,

Captain Elliot of the Dark Waters said.

‘Give us your booty and you might not die!’

Just like that we had the Treasure. It was brilliant! It was marvellous! It was

amazing!

Three other Pirates brought the booty home. We had lots of loot. The other Pirate

was right. We are now ‘ruddy rich!’

Page 11: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

......................................................................................

The high tide washed up the side of our boat, rocking us like a baby and making us

stumble across the filthy deck. The darkening sky cast gargantuan dusty grey clouds

where previously quartz white candyfloss had floated in the light blue sky.

Up ahead was an enemy ship bobbing up and down.

A croaky cry from the Captain sent us hurtling towards the ship. Surfing along the

waves another joyous cry identified this was a Treasure ship. ‘Spanish Ahoy!’

Lightning bolt quick we had plundered a lot of booty and were done with those

Spanish scallywags!

Page 12: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

The Day the Pirates Attacked Us

Out of the mist a Jolly Roger loomed ahead. My heart beat faster. It made my

blood go cold and my spine tingle. I would rather die right now than be killed from

fright or surrender. Whoops and

cheers came from in front of us. I

went up to the Captain and said.

‘Captain, there’s no hope. What are

we going to do?’

First I heard the screaming and

then I screamed myself. The money

was going to be taken and we were

going to die.

It was obvious.

Sounds blurred and I was jumped

on.

I screamed with what I feared

might be my last breath before I

died.

............................................................

Page 13: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

They appeared! Their screams sent fear into the hearts of men within 100 miles.

Their ship, fast and agile, came up alongside us and the scruffy buccaneers clambered

aboard.

‘Plunder the vessel!’ Cried Captain Legoe! The most feared Pirate on the seven seas!

The crewmen started searching our ship, whilst threatening us with their muskets.

We were forced to surrender. Otherwise this would become a battle and we couldn’t

afford that.

Those commoners surveyed every inch of our ship but the Treasure was nowhere to be

found.... for we had hidden it!

‘Where is the booty?’Yelled Captain Legoe! Reddening in the face with anger.

‘Say where it be..........or die!’

‘OK, OK! It’s on the bottom deck, where we keep the gunpowder.’

Captain El Seano pleaded. He was the best sailor in the Spanish navy but the

Pirates were too good for him.

‘Now join us or be cast adrift!’ Captain Legoe exclaimed.

We all joined and are now, rather annoyingly, all Pirates.

Silver Pirate

As flames licked the deck, I leapt aboard,

my black hair whipping across my face

and shouting a very rude word at the top

of my voice. Terrified Spanish cowered in

the corner, whimpering at the site of my

gun. I fired.....BANG! A small

firework of

sparkles and

smoke exploded

in the air.

Mini burning

rockets shot

down into the

fire. Striding

across the deck

I realised that

I had hit a

lass.

A pang of guilt stabbed through my

stomach. I remembered my mother’s words;

‘’Treat Others Like You Would Treat

Yourself.’’ But, hey, I’m a Pirate. I’m

not supposed to have prissy little feelings!

A tear rolled down my cheek.

‘Snap out of it, Silver!’ I told myself

harshly.

In the distance I could hear the words

‘Loot’ being said. I turned to see what

it was all about.

Talitha: (Spanish Girl)

I cowered in the corner, shivering with

fright. A black haired female Pirate

jumped on board waving a gun and

shouting ferociously. Flames were

dangerously near to my leg threatening to

burn me. Suddenly there was a loud

BANG! Then there was a searing pain

in my leg. I knew undoubtedly that I

had been hit. My head lolled against the

wooden rail and I sunk to the floor.

Slowly my eyes opened. When they

adjusted to the light, I saw the girl

Pirate who had shot me wince. A sparkle

of sweat rolled down her cheek, dripping

onto her black leather boots. Or was it a

tear? The pain in my leg forced me to

close my eyes but then a strong hand

grabbed my shoulder and hauled me up.

In front of the Captain my legs

trembled, never ceasing.

The Captain thundered.’ Would you

prefer to join us or.............’ He paused

dramatically.

‘Be sent adrift on a boat to suffer your

own fate?!’

‘’I ...I d...don’t know,’ My voice

I stepped forward and introduced myself.

Captain busted us to a cabin and said

that he had important business to do

‘Important Business’ was the fun bit!

Treasure sorting!

We chatted, told each other secrets

And swore!

As we ambled down the stairs, blood

was continually pulsing out of her leg

I led her to the medical room where we

creaked like twigs. Wha....’

‘Get on with it stupid Spanish

landlubber!’‘I would like to be a Pirate.’

I said quickly,

‘Very well. My mood is lifted by Your

choice.

‘Thank you, thank you.....’

I’d like to introduce you to Silver, my

daughter.

Page 16: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

Sharing Out the Booty!

‘You Lot! We can’t fit all this Treasure in the main boat.

Take this rowing boat and take the chest onto land.’ The Captain shouted loudly.

Me and five others rowed to shore.

The boat started sinking when we

were close to land and we got soaked.

When we reached land we opened the

chest and shared the Treasure out.

Someone asked about a pretty

orange box and the Captain shouted

at her.

‘You mind you own business you Swab!!!’

The next day we all woke up to find the Captain in an awful mood.

He started looking in all our faces ....... but one Pirate turned away.

‘You stole it.’ He roared.

‘What are you talking about ?’ Stuttered the Pirate.

You know what I’m talking about!’ Thundered the Captain.

‘NNo I dddon’t!’ Stuttered the Pirate.

‘You stole my gem, my precious Lapis Gem.

The largest in the country!’ Shouted the

Captain.

‘No I didn’t! Bucko John Morgan did it!’

Screamed the Pirate.

‘Shark-Bite Jim Jones did it!’

Shouted John Morgan.

‘Oh no I didn’t!’ Replied Jim Jones.

Everyone started fighting and then they came to me and I knew the jig was up!

The piece of Lapis fell out of my pocket. They all made me take my shirt off. The

wind was like a whip on my back. And then they whipped me. Forty times!!!

It was pain. Pure pain! It hurt so badly. Then they talked about marooning me!

Page 17: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

..................................................................

Today we had the fight of our life and it ended well. We fought the Spanish.

We won! We got all their gold, jewels, gems and more. We had to carry a massive

Treasure chest. That’s Bucko George of the Coast, Lady Bones of the Coast and me

that carried it. It dug into our shoulders.

Our crew all looked inside. Captain looked in a weird

orange box. But he did not speak of it. Later when he

went to look into it again it was gone, all gone!

‘Who stole my Diamond!’ Captain Legoe shouted.’

Who looks guilty?.......You, Miss Sea Sparrow.

You look guilty!’

Everyone said it was different people.

‘Check her, Lady Storm Silver. Now!!!’

So she checked all over and what did she find?

A Diamond!

‘You took it! You did it!’ Shouted the Captain. Are you guilty or do you want to

die?’

..........................................................

Deadman Jack Swashbuckler’s diary:

Guess what happened to me this afternoon? It was terrible.

Miss Sea Sparrow Hornswaggled me!

It all started after lunch when Cap’n John Legoe was sharing out the Treasure.

Just then Lady Bones of the Coast asked.

‘What’s in that pot Cap’n?’

‘None of your business!’ Said Cap’n John.

‘Anyway it’s not going in your duffle!’

‘Shiver me timbers. That’s a bit harsh, Cap’n!’

Oh! Be quiet, you Swab!’

‘Okaaaaay!’ Spluttered Lady Bones.

Just then I felt someone slip something into my pocket.

Suddenly the Captain roared. ‘Who has my Ruby!!!’

Page 18: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

............................

The Unicorn and its crew had just taken all the

Treasure from a heavy Spanish Galleon. I was

hoisting and carrying the huge Treasure chest with

another Pirate, Miss Sea Silver. My back

ached........but I knew I mustn’t give up. Once we

had painfully reached dry land we all kneeled around

our honoured Captain Legoe ready to be given our

share of the purest gold.

We had all been given our precious share. Except for one thing. The Captain hadn’t

given out this small, bright orange box. He opened the lid and peered inside.

I saw his eyes light up with joy and his lips mouth ’Shiver me Timbers!’

He placed the box back and then congratulated us all over our ‘Booty Finding.’

After that, he opened the strange box again and his eyes fell with anger............

‘Where is my Jewel? My precious Ruby!

I am Cap’n John Legoe and ya can’t steal from me!’ He bellowed as he inspected

our nervous faces.

A while later he uncovered a

beautiful Ruby from the second

mates booty!

The Cap’n was absolutely

furious!

The second mate was shot......

before he even saw the end of the

hour!

............................................................................

In the end We got all the Treasure and I got my share but Rattle Bones got a

tremendous whipping. You should have heard him squeal! As another punishment for

stealing more than his share he had to eat raw cackle fruit for supper.

That lonely night I could still hear the voices of the fight in my ringing head, lying in

my hammock bed.

Page 19: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

I woke up to the shouting of Captain John Legoe. My limbs were aching, I felt

weak and the voice of Captain John was making my ears buzz. Yesterday I had to

carry the chest of Treasure ashore. I was soooo excited but the chest dug into my

shoulder badly. I knew I had to wake up now,

otherwise I would get a fearful and painful whipping. I

was so distracted by the thought of being whipped that I

decided to get up.

Yesterday the

Captain had found

something precious

in an orange pot which he now carried in a sack

on his belt. As I rushed out I heard him say.

‘Where’s my lovely loot? It’s not in the bag!’

Friends were accusing each other and nobody was being nice. He checked under

everyone’s bandana until he found the Emerald under Scurvy Sam’s Bandana.

Now Scurvy Sam would suffer the punishment of raw Cacklefruit and a good

whipping on the back. But someone could have put it in another’s person’s clothes so

the Captain started another full on accusement about who had stolen the gem.

Watching them made me dreary so I went back to my airy room until I could come

out and see who had admitted it. When I came out Captain John Legoe said.

‘Hey, little Buccaneer, did you steal it then?’

I felt astonished. ‘Um, um, no Captain. I didn’t.’

‘It was me!’ said Miss Scurvy Sparrow.’

Then Death it is!’ Said Captain John.

And bang went the gun!

...............................................................................

It was another day sailing the vast ocean. The waves were moving as elegantly as a

hare when I heard the Captain bellow. ‘Who Stole My Amber!!!’

I could tell he was looking for a guilty face. From pants to eye patches he searched

for the Amber. I spotted a glint of Amber under the table.

‘Sir!’ I called to him. ‘I can see Amber under the table.’ I continued in a calm way.

Page 20: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

‘Just Fake!’ Shouted the Captain in an irritated tone.

Indeed I could now see it was fake. Being observant Captain Legoe examined an eye

patch with a strange orange glow. Legoe was furious when a piece of Amber dropped

out of the same eye patch with a thump. Legoe was so

angry he wanted to maroon the Pirate right then.

Instantaneously twenty ‘cackle fruit’ hatched and

jumped on him!

‘Pssst Josh.’ Someone whispered to me.

What do you think is going to happen?’

At that moment Legoe got his cutlass and killed Henry the robber.

..............................................

We sailed to an island in the middle of the sea. We buried that Treasure on that

island in a deep hole and then filled it up with sand.

After we buried the Treasure Captain Legoe said we can

all have a share which means everyone gets a bag of

gold. But he also got a massive green Emerald and he

put the Emerald in a small blue chest with a Topaz on

the side. He put this in his pocket.

He gave his crew the bags of gold then he checked the

small blue chest again. The Emerald was gone.

Everyone was searched. Finally he said that it was me

that stole it, even though someone must have put it in

my pocket.

....................................................................

Page 21: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

I am now carrying the jewels, Diamonds and a precious Sapphire!

‘Put it down!’ Captain shouts.

So I drop the chest.

‘Careful!!!’ He shouts.

We open the chest. ‘What’s in there? ..........

GOLD!’

We each had our share and he kept the Sapphire to

himself.

As we were Splicing the Mainbrace, Captain suddenly looked like he had lost

something.

‘Who took my Sapphire?’ He demanded.

‘Not me!’ We chorused.

‘It was Lady Bones of the Coast!’

‘No. It was Bucko Jim River!’

The Captain walked around, checking everyone’s pockets.

‘It was Miss Sea Storm!’

‘No, it was Shark bait Storm!’

‘No!’ Shouted the Captain. ‘It was Miss Sea Sparrow!. Death it is!

The Captain took out his pistol and shot her to death.‘

...................................................

Today we threatened the Spanish and got lots of Treasure! As the Captain I got to

do the sharing. I found something I really wanted.

It was a fairly big Diamond! I put it in a purse

and tucked the purse in my belt.

After doing the shares I went away to take the

Diamond out of my purse again. I opened the purse

and found the Diamond was gone!

People started accusing each other of stealing the Diamond.

Exactly one week after this incident the Diamond was found. The Pirate who stole it

was thrown into jail. He would be marooned.

I’m just happy I found my Jewel at last!

....................................

Page 22: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

The Captain decided to share the Treasure on a desolate island nearby. So off we went

into the west to this island. When we got about a quarter of a mile off the island,

where the water was starting to get

too shallow for the ship we used the

ship’s canoe. We got into it

alongside the Treasure and sailed

away towards the island. On the

island the Captain shared out the

Treasure according to our shares.

We were all happy, apart from

Captain Legoe, which is never

good.

‘’Where’s my Ruby! You Swabs!’ Screamed the absolutely livid Captain. At that

moment I felt something slip into my pocket. My hand glided in to see what it was

and to my disbelief it was the Ruby Captain Legoe was looking for!

‘How dare you, you son of a biscuit eater! You might be new to the crew but that

doesn’t mean you can steal my Ruby! You know what the punishment is don’t you

Red patch Barnacle!!!’ Yelled Captain Legoe.

‘Gulp! I don’t know Cap’n,

...............................................................

Wading through the deep water with a

Treasure chest on my back, Captain

Legoe shouted.

‘Come on you scallywags!’

Finally we found a place to share out the

money.

‘We have to share out the money now,

you scum!’

This box is for me!’ Said the Captain.

After we had all had our share, the Captain came in roaring with rage and a look of

astonishment on his face.

‘Who stole my Opal!!!’ Screamed Captain John Legoe.

Page 23: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

He looked at all of us and rested his eyes on.......Lady Storm Silver.

I was told to search her.

Later in the day I reported back to Captain and said.

‘She’s innocent sir!’

Then search lady Bones of the Coast!’

So I searched her and her bed and finally uncovered the shiny

Opal. I rushed to the Captain ..................

.....................................................

I waded through the unclear water and walked onto the crisp golden sand and dropped

the heavy oak chest. Setting it down on the sand we all shared a greedy grin as we

unfolded the lid of the priceless wealth hidden inside.

‘Arrr, me Hearties!’ Cackled the Captain as he struggled

to limp across the sand with his peg leg.

After we’d all had our share the Captain furtively stuffed a

Sapphire into his worn pocket. Later that day the Captain

burst from his cabin and frustratedly yelled.

‘One of you sons of a biscuit eater has hornswaggled me!’

An astounded look overran everyone’s faces apart from one

landlubber. Then a stuttering of words flew into the Captain’s ears. I had been framed.

Carnage broke out on the ship. Some Pirate allies protected me while others argued

with them. I sent my hands delving into my accuser’s pockets and I pulled out an

expensive Sapphire and shouted. ‘See! It wasn’t me!’

The thief was later marooned, escorted to a miniature island in the Atlantic.

............................................................

Beside the Treasure was a gleaming Treasure box. Inside the box were all sorts of

jewels. Then there was an orange box. The Cap’n looked inside

the orange box and said. ‘This is mine! I’ll take a bag of

gold and this. You lot can have the rest.’

But then I accidentally cast a look into the orange box and

saw what was inside. A beautiful Blue Sapphire! I gasped.

‘Then the Cap’n said. ‘Right, everyone to bed now!’

I woke up in the morning tired. Then I heard a cry from the Cap’n’s cabin.

Page 24: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

‘Where’s that blasted Sapphire gone!’

I gasped in disbelief. The Cap’ns jewel had been stolen. Then the Cap’n yelled for us

to get up on deck. We emptied our pockets. Nobody had the jewel. The new sailor

that we had picked up from the Spanish Galleon was looking very fearful. So I

wondered. Was he the thief?

I decided I had a plan. Late tonight I would sneak into his room and see what I

could find. So late that night I snuk into his room but

suddenly I froze. There were people talking inside his

cabin. The door was open. I could see Sea Shuck and

Blue Bottle and the newest sailor talking. But what was

that in Blue Bottle’s hand? The Sapphire! I went

straight to the Cap’n and woke him up. I said ‘Cap’n I

know who stole the Sapphire. It was Blue Bottle and

Sea Shuck.

Let’s get down to business!’ Said the Cap’n. We both

carefully snuck down the corridor until we were outside the

door. We opened the door and there were Blue Bottle and

Sea Shuck with the glittering Sapphire between them. They were caught red handed.

‘You will be marooned!’ Screamed the Cap’n John Legoe.

...................................................

Silver Pirate

The worried Captain burst into the room muttering, concerned and frowning. Captain

was fumbling with his belt, clearly looking for something.

‘What’s the matter?’ I asked casually.

‘Lost! I’ve lost it!’ He wailed.

Lost what?’ I persisted. Looking quizzically at him.

‘The Sapphire! The Prize Gem. The Sapphire!’

‘Oh!’ Talitha nodded knowingly. ‘You mean

The Gem of Atlantis.’

‘So where is it?’ Captain hissed.

Then a picture of Sam, Captain’s chief

sailor, pocketing something shiny, flashed

through my mind.

Page 25: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

‘It could be Sam!’ I piped up.

‘Sam?’ A wave of surprise washed over the Captain’s face.

‘I saw him pocketing a gem!’

‘Did he all right! Sink me I’m baffled. But he has been

acting strangely since he visited the Treasure.

‘Try him.’

‘I shall’!’

Talitha

So here we are, standing on deck, surrounding this man called Sam.

Captain steps forward.

‘Did you steal the Sapphire?’ His face is dark and

thunderous.

‘No! Of course not Cap’n,

I’m your chief sailor, en’t I?’

‘Now you ‘ent! Maroon him!’

I trembled but a strange hand belonging to Silver

grabbed mine.

I was so relieved we had found friends in each other!

.........................................

Captain John Legoe was sharing out the Treasure when he got to an orange pot. He

opened it but quickly shut it again with a look of astonishment on his face. Me and

my crewmate, Lady Storm Silver definitely wanted to find out what it was. Captain

Legoe hid it in a purse. While he was sleeping I snatched away the purse and

removed what was inside.

It was a beautiful jewel. Red and Shiny.

It was a Ruby, but not just any old

Ruby. It was massive! I was just about

to plonk it back in the purse when the

Captain started to wake. I panicked and

darted out of the room with the jewel still

in my grasp.

In the morning the Captain searched

everyone and found the jewel in my pocket.

I was told I would be marooned. I screamed in horror and ran to my hammock.

Page 26: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

........................................................

I woke up thinking today was going to be a rough day and shiver me timbers, I was

right. It all started with me and my buccaneer ship Pirates. We had just arrived on a

desert island after stealing Spanish booty. We all sat down, all my buccaneers and me,

Miss Plank Silver. Well I was sharing the Treasure. I shared the gold and the

jewels and the gems fairly . But... I went to use the latrine and when I came back my

wonderful gem was gone............

Page 27: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

Marooned

A few days ago one of the worst things happened to me. It was astonishing! My

shipmates betrayed me! They accused me of stealing so, shiver me timbers, I was

marooned. I got took to a desert island and here I am!

I’m feeling fearful and sad even though I know it was that nasty Miss Sea Sparrow

that did it. She’s a cruel hornswaggling scallywag, she is!

All I can hear is deep, deep silence.

I thought to myself, how am I gonna

survive?

I set off into the deep of the woods.

As I pushed through the leaves and

tall thick trees it was unbelievable.

Sink me! I don’t know a hundred

different trees. Some of Mango,

Coconut, Papaya and bushes of

Cherries or nuts or bananas. It was overwhelming! But there was one thing. I

must not tell anyone. I won’t!

Then I was curious. I leapt through more trees and more leaves and Shiver Me

Timbers, there was what looked like a deep pool of fresh water and a big pile of thick

leaves and branches. So now, Oh! My Jolly Roger, I have a shelter and food and

water. I don’t need to leave! It had been one of the greatest days of my life! I’m glad

I came here after all.

Page 28: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

.....................................................................

The Captain put everyone in a small boat and

sailed to a desert island. He got everyone to

jab me and drag me to a spot where they all

took it in turns to insult me.

After this the Captain gave me a musket with

only one shot and a bottle of water.

Soon they got back on the boat and left. I

screamed and fled to the trees where I wept myself to sleep. The next morning I ate a

Mango and some nuts that I found on the ground.

I thought to myself from this day forward what will become of me?

.........................................................................

Sam’s Days .......... Marooned

So here I am marooned on this island and only a

bottle of water, a Passion fruit, a Banana and a

musket.

One of my first thoughts was ‘how would I survive?’

Suddenly a tree house popped into my mind.

Yes, a tree house, that would be grand! I set off at

once.

On my way I saw some very strange things. Plants that looked like animals and

strange animals too.

....................................................................

I was walking alone along the sand. My ship had just dropped me here to face my

death. I’m here because I stole a Sapphire. I feel like I deserve to be here. Then I

realise it’s nearly dark, I have to make a shelter so I went to the deep undergrowth of

the island.

Page 29: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

In the middle of the island I found a good shelter. I deftly tied the trees together to

make a room. This will do for today I thought. I woke up in the morning. Ah, my

bed of leaves is much more comfortable than that hard wooden bed back on the ship.

Right! Today I’ll have to collect some water, pick some food, gather wood and build

more shelters. There was amazing fruit all over the island.

Fresh coconuts, plump Pineapple, marvellous Mango and

ripe Bananas. This should be good. Then I saw a ship.

That’s The Queen Anne’s Revenge. So quickly I made a

fire out of dry bits opf wood and leaves. The smoke rose up

into the air. I knew the ship had seen my signal for they

were coming my way.

When they picked me up the Captain said. ‘I know you’re

a good person, matey, you can board my ship and be one of

the crew

...............................................................................................

Crest fallen and betrayed feelings filled me body as I watched the

ship I had once called home disappear across the turquoise

waters.

I sat, livid with myself. Eventually, I got up and headed for the

luscious greenery infested with divine fruit. I lumbered through

the enclosed canopy of the forest kicking my feet in despair along

the uneven ground.

The sun set low and the fire I had made sent enormous amounts

of smoke curling into the gentle summer breeze. Just as I had thought I was going to

die fatefully, a boat of blood curdling Pirates washed up on the sandy shore.

I gawped in disbelief.

I was saved!!!

...............................................

Page 30: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

Walking down next to a gushing river I so wanted to lie down and die.

The shade of ancient trees protected me from the burning sun.

I sat down next to my gun and shot at a bird in front of me. It fell, helpless, lifeless.

I ran towards it and picked it up.

Then I took my shoes off and bathed my feet in the river.

‘Aaaah, that feels better!’ I said. I looked at my hands. Still blistered, so I dipped

them in too. I sat down and looked at the sky. The sun was near the west. Nearly

the end of the day, I thought. I lay down and waited to die.

Suddenly I realised how hungry I was. It was like a snake. It always wanted more.

So I got up and ate the Pigeon I had caught but still the hunger lashed at my

throat. All I could hear was deep, deep silence.

A light pitter-patter of rain started and then huge drops. They were like slabs of slate.

Worrying for my life I ran and ran and when I could no longer ran I limped and

then crawled.

I needed a drink so I gulped down the whole bottle of water.

I was going to die.

.............................................

Dear Diary:

I am Bucko John Morgan.

I am frightened to death because I am being sailed out to be marooned.

Someone else stole Cap’ns Ruby and put it in my pocket. No one believed me

though. They thought I was just trying to get out of trouble.

We’re nearly there now and I’m shivering with fear. My friends think I betrayed

them and Cap’n doesn’t trust me anymore.

Page 31: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

We’re here now. It’s sandy and has very few trees. Fortunately on the few trees there

are fruits like Bananas and Mango.

I build myself a hut out of leaves and wood. I have survived a week so far with food

and water, and a hut with a wooden bed.

This morning I woke up and went to the sea. At first all I saw

was blue but then I saw a blob. It was a ship. I hurried into the

wood and got leaves, wood and two stones. I made a fire with lots of

smoke. To my relief the wonderful crew came and rescued me. When

I got on board they treated me like one of them. They gave me a

hammock, a pillow, a blanket and most of all they gave me a crew

to join and lots of new friends.

................................................

Rowing up to a lump of rock in the middle of

the sea, insults and praises were being shouted

at me but I ignored them. I had more

important things to worry about.

My marooning!

At the island, Cap’n chucked me out of the

boat with as musket, a small bottle of

gunpowder and a bullet. Also a bottle of

water. Whilst rowing off I heard the Captain

shout to me.

‘You deserve it, you Spanisher!’

It isn’t fair! I was framed. I didn’t do it!

A few days later, after preserving my water supply, it finally ran

out. But in the distance I noticed a vessel. I didn’t know what

kind it was as it was too far away but it was a vessel. I was

saved!

Help! Help! I’m over here. Save me from certain death!’ I

cried.

After a few minutes of yelling like mad the vessel came ashore.

I was saved.

I lived!

Page 32: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

.................................................

Two words.

I’m marooned!

I got marooned earlier today. I’m still creating my shelter. I need to be finished soon

because it’s nearly night and I’m already quite tired.

The reason I got marooned is because..........well, someone put a stolen jewel on me so

people thought it was me who stole the jewel.

It’s so hot on this island that I would die if

I had no shade.

I saw the boat leaving the island with

everyone on it except me.

I’m feeling rather angry that I got

marooned when I didn’t even do one thing

wrong. Some think I did steal the jewel,

others think I didn’t.

I wish I could go home to my family

I really wish I could go home.

..........................................................

I have just been marooned by my ship, Captain and friends.

I miss my crew. I’m walking down a river salting the water with my tears.

I felt livid.

My island is not too bad. I have water to drink, fruit to eat but there are lots of

dangerous, breath taking frightful, spine chilling animals.

I’m still feeling sad and I don’t think that will change until someone rescues me.

Some of my crew said mean things like. ‘It was you!’ of ‘You dirty thief!’ but really

it wasn’t me who stole the Sapphire. Others said nice things like. ‘I believe you.’ Or

‘You’ll be rescued.’ Which will not change my sad feeling!

Now I need to build a shelter to keep me safe. I

will probably use wood and leaves.

There! My glorious shelter has been built out of

leaves and trees and a few twigs.

I should be able to survive. Wish me luck!

Bucko George of the Coast

Page 33: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

.................................................

So we sailed to an island with a huge forest and they marooned me there with only:

One small pot of gunpowder, a pistol, some food and water plus everything in my

pockets. I watched them sail away. Then I saw the sun.

It was almost night. I need to make a fire. I got out my

telescope and took out the lens, went into the forest to

gather up some sticks. I placed them on the ground and

used the lens with the sunlight to burn it and make a fire! .......................................................

I watched as the rest of the crew dropped me at the island. It was frightening. I could

see the ship in the distance. Thankfully I found some Coconuts which gave me food

and water. I’ve collected rainwater to drink.

I found Tigers! I used a spear made from stone and wood for defence.

I found some branches and tied them together for a shelter.

I could see a ship approaching.

Terrifyingly, I saw a giant Carnivorous Lizard.

It ate a Panther whole and it has smelt me! I ran

as fast as I could, shouting for help. It was about

to eat me when three Tigers jumped on it. One

Tiger got swallowed. The second scratched it but

the Lizard crushed it.

The final Tiger made the Lizard bleed and then

was killed.

Then the ship arrived. The crew shot guns at the

Lizard and it ran into the forest.

The Captain said to me. ‘Hey, where did you come

from?’

I replied’ Nobody will ever know...

Page 34: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

I have been marooned on a desert island and I can still see the ship sailing away.

I am feeling very livid and distraught.

I walk along the desert shore wishing I was back

on the ship and I can quite clearly say that I

didn’t steal that Emerald from the Captain! I

was accused but still I didn’t do it. At least that’s

what I told the Captain so many times!

It’s now been four days and the food has run out. Luckily I’m on a tropical island

and there is plenty of fruit to eat and some springs of water to drink.

On my first day here I built a shelter, a very stable one, with a predator trap at the

front. So far I’ve caught in my trap a Tiger, a Snake and a couple of Poisonous

Tarantulas. It works quite well, actually. I’ve made a couple of cages for Parrots

out of wood. It’s not the best but it will do for a while.

I wish that I could go back on another ship.

........................................................................

I was doing my rather boring, monotonous job

on the ship. I was the lookout, of course. It

was the only thing I could manage since I had

been stranded on a boiling hot desert island for

two weeks! You may ask why I was stranded

on an island. Fine, but it’s a long story......

It all started when I joined the

pesky Pirates to get some gold. I tried to steal

the Captain’s expensive jewellery. That didn’t

go well at all! I knew I would get very

seriously punished and of course I did. I

got marooned on sandy a desert island.

After that a heavy Spanish ship picked me up after two tiring weeks. This Spanish

ship is where I am now, looking out for Pirate ships.

Deadman Jack Swashbuckler’s Marooning Diary

Day 1

Today has been a pretty rough day. Today was the day I was marooned. I have

been left on a desert island with nothing but: A large bottle of water, A week’s worth

of food, one outfit and a map of the island and the sea around me.

I know that’s not much but after all this is a punishment. I feel so angry, isolated,

betrayed, sad, life lost, worried and alone. That’s really all I have to tell you about

what has happened today

Day 2

Just to let you know, I have changed my name to Jack.

I will now write all my diaries using the name Jack so if

I meet anyone on the island they don’t suspect that I

used to be a Pirate. Guess what. I have even thrown

away my Pirate clothes and started to make clothes out of

things I find on the island. I have got rid of my Large

Bottle, Food, Outfit and my map so that I look nothing

like a Pirate. Just in case I meet anyone who hates

Pirates! I now have to forage for things to eat each day

and catch rain water to drink. I think I might actually

survive this marooning after all.

.................................................

Page 36: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

Someone framed me! Apparently I took the Diamond but I swear it was not me.

Right now I am trying to find water and food and somewhere to sleep. It’s harder

than it looks.

My crew were saying horrible things about me and a few nice things. I hope that

will change when someone comes to rescue me.

At night it’s very scary because lots of wild animals and ....ooooh, I don’t want to

talk about it. Luckily I got dropped off in a tropical island so there are lots of sweet

Mangoes, Hard Coconuts, juicy Oranges and long fat Bananas. The Mangoes

are the best.

One day as I awoke something

caught my eye. It looked like a

Buzzard but instead it was a

Pirate ship. ‘Land Ahoy!’

someone shouted. ‘I’ve come to

rescue you!’ The boat came

closer and closer. A voice came to

my ear. ‘Come aboard!’ I

jumped on and they sailed me

back home!

.......................................................................

Page 37: THE PIRATE CHRONICLES - BRAESIDE EDUCATION · Ship ahoy!’ came a voice and I stood up that instant. Basically when there’s a ship there’s a chance. You see when I started it

They tied me up and put me in chains. The boat started moving towards Butterfly

Island. You’d think this was pretty nice but it was awful there by yourself.

No one to see, nothing to eat and nothing to eat except one measly bottle of water!

I felt so scared stranded there all alone....or so I thought.

A few weeks later I was finally finishing making my

shelter, a big Willow tree with twigs over the top, when

I saw a movement in a tree. I slowly walked forwards and

I found a savage. Of course if there is one savage there is

a whole community. I talked to the savage, of course, who

was beautiful. She had long sweeping black hair, a stripy

Tiger skin dress and a leather belt. She seemed like a nice

girl and she told me she had a big community. So she

disguised me as a savage and then I became a savage.

I’m becoming new things every day. At the savage community I am training to be a

warrior. Maybe next I’ll be a Ninja....
