Welcome to the 2019 PSE National Convention in Jacksonville! I am very excited to have you all here, participating in what is sure to be another memorable week. In this long standing tradition of our fraternity, the National Convention is a time for our members to showcase their talents, share experiences with others, compete for prestigious awards and scholarships, get hired by our many corporate partners attending, and build some lifelong networks and friendships. I am always impressed at the talent displayed by our members during the National Convention.

If this is your first time attending, thank you for being here. Take in all the Convention has to offer, professionally and personally. Observe those chapters competing in our National Awards program and the Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon®. I hope that will be you someday at future National Conventions. If you are competing at this year’s Convention for the first time, either for a national award, or for one of the many scholarships, good luck to you! I truly believe you will enjoy this outstanding professional experience. It is one of the highlights of the National Convention for me!

I would also like to recognize and thank a few individuals who make our National Convention a big success year after year. First, my thanks to the Pi Sigma Epsilon National Educational Foundation for hosting this year’s National Convention. I am so appreciative of their continued support of this event. Thanks also to the exceptional team at National Headquarters, for their time, efforts, and leadership, to ensure everything goes well for everyone attending the National Convention. Their unwavering dedication and commitment to the fraternity, our members, and to the National Convention is always inspiring. Thanks to our corporate partners, who continue to support our fraternity and members every year through scholarships, job opportunities, service on our leadership teams, and commitment to our overall mission as a professional fraternity. To our alumni that return to “give back”, thank you for continuing to be part of the National Convention experience. As you know, the experience does not end once you graduate. Your continued guidance and mentorship to our collegiate members is always important to the growth of Pi Sigma Epsilon.

PSE GIVES BACKThe State of Florida’s Council on Homelessness reported over 1,800 homeless persons in Duval County alone. In the same report surveying homelessness on the streets by county in Florida, St. Johns County reported over 1,400, Clay County reported over 100 and Nassau County reported over 90 homeless persons each. According to these figures, there are over 3,000 homeless persons in Northeast Florida on any given day.

As visitors to the area, we encouraged PSE members to bring along with them an item that we will donate to the Trinity Rescue Mission.
