The Pastor’s Corner

February is already here and the new year is off to a great start. In January, we started a new prayer service on Sunday Nights at 6:00pm. This is a very informal service where we gather to pray for God’s vision and focus for our church and lift each other up in prayer. It has been a wonderful service and we invite everyone to come out and join us. When God’s people pray together awesome things happen. I am pleased to announce that Kathryn O’Gwynn has been hired as our new Choir Director. I know she will give great leadership in our traditional worship service and do great ministry in the church. This also means that we are now looking for a children’s director. Please be in prayer that God will raise up the right person to lead in this very important ministry. I would also encourage people to volunteer to help with the children’s ministry while we are searching for a new director. Kathryn will continue to fill in and coordinate this ministry. If you would be willing to help please contact Kathryn. Finally, I want to encourage everyone to help us spread the word and invite people to church. Reach out to neighbors and friends who do not have a church family and invite them to come to Pine Forest. Also, if you have a smart phone, check in when you come to church, share a quote or story or event on Facebook or Twitter and let the world know that we are here and even more im-portantly God is here. Sonshine Exercise Class

Happy New Year from the Sonshine Exercise Group! We are still meeting on Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 in Building II. We are improving our health each week and learning more each week from our devotions. As we gather in January, it is time to think of goals. I would like each

person to have a long-term goal and a short-term goal to reach for the year. We will discuss those and how to encourage each other as we reach those goals.

Also, starting in January, right after the chair low impact class, those who feel like staying for

another 15 minutes or so or those of you who prefer this class only, we will be doing core exercises only. We will be doing variations of sit-ups and Pilates. Please bring an exercise ball

to class if you have one. If you are unable to lie on the floor or your mat, this class is not intended for you at this time.

Your body is an instrument through which God wants to work in the world. If we viewed our bodies not as ornaments but as instruments for God to use, we would be better models for our

children and grandchildren. We would reach out to those in need. We would lead Bible studies or disciple others. All this just by taking small steps to care for our bodies that God has entrusted to us.Let's devote our new year to serving our Father. Let's nourish our bodies so that we have

the stamina to glorify Him with them.

HANDS AND FEET Youth: Every month they are doing an art night where they do different craft activities. The youth are tentatively planning another 30 hour famine type lock in February. They are having another rummage sale close to the end of March. Children: Please be in prayer for a new director of our children ’s ministry. Tailgate: Has lunch prep on Wednesday’s at 10:00am and on Thursday’s at 9:00am they take food to the homeless with the exception of the last Thursday of the month when they serve breakfast. Choir & Handbell News: We welcome Kathryn O’Gwynn as our new choir director. There are seats available in the choir if you would like to make a joyful noise, join them for practice on Wednesdays at 7:00pm.

Library Corner Want a Christian movie or DVD to watch? Take a look at our growing selection of DVD’s in the audio/visual section of our church library. You can check them out for two weeks at a time. Just use the 3-ring binder on the table to sign them out and in. Here’s just a sample of what you’ll find: The War Room – a current popular DVD about a woman establishing a prayer closet to fight for her family. The Gospel of John – A drama with Henry Ian Cusick as Jesus. In this movie he only speaks the words of Jesus as presented in John’s Gospel in the Bible. A very powerful movie. Charlton Heston Presents The Bible -- The stories of Genesis, Moses, Jesus of Nazareth and The Passion. Three Wooden Crosses - 11 inspirational videos from today’s top country artists. Where Jesus Walked – Through archaeological research, we are shown the probability of what the Holy Land looked like during the times when Jesus lived there. Our library is located in building 2.
