Spiritual Communion There are times when people are unable to receive the Body and Blood of Christ, through illness or due to their personal disposition. Even though some may not receive ‘sacramental’ Communion, all are united in some way by the Holy Spirit. The traditional idea of ‘spiritual’ Communion is an important one to remember and reaffirm. A deep spiritual communion is possible even when we do not share together the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ. (cf. Celebrating the Mass 212) My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this Holy Sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen REFLECTIONS: Fr Paul has kindly been providing daily reflections during the lockdown period and these are available on the parish website together with other ideas for prayer and the weekly newsletter

Spiritual Communion There are times when people are unable to receive the Body and Blood of Christ, through illness or due to their personal disposition. BE INSPIRATIONAL: This website hosts an array of resources for young people to help them in their prayer life and spiritual journey as well as having lots of links to activities in various schools. It is well worth encouraging our young people to have a good look at what it offers. www.beinspirational.co.uk

RE-OPENING OF CHURCHES: We have applied for permission to re-open St Patrick’s for private prayer from 1st July and are awaiting a response from the Diocese. Please see the NEWS Section of our website for up-to-date information. Details of when Mass can be celebrated will also be on the website.

YEAR OF THE WORD: Information on this initiative can be found on various Diocesan websites including our own Youth service site www.ndcys.com. Please encourage any younger members of our parish to view this page. There are also resources for use with young people during the current lockdown. The Church is built on the groundworks of Scripture; we listen to what our God is saying to us before we take action. Such listening may be achieved by a few companions who gather regularly to hear the Gospel of the upcoming Sunday Mass and share their prayerful responses to it. The Seven Steps are a good tried and tested way of doing this. A network of Seven Steps groups is growing across the Diocese. If you are interested in setting a group up, please contact the area representative the Rev. Mr. Anthony Cordes

“Outside The City” Release: Due to popular demand, this very moving and inspirational film, which was shown in cinemas around the country, about the lives of the monks at Mount St Bernard Abbey, was released on 8th June on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and DVD. To view trailer or pre-order your DVD (£12) visit: www.vivaverve.com/film/outside-the-city

FOOD BANK: A big thank you for the generous donations that you continue to give and these are needed more than ever at this time. If you want to know more or feel you can give up some time to volunteer at the foodbank, please speak to Angela Grabowski. Angela is collecting donations every Thursday but they can also be left directly with the Food Bank or in the porch of 117, Newlands Road. Details of items urgently needed may be found on the Food Bank website which is www.sherwoodforest.foodbank.org.uk/news

SCHOOL NEWS: Our schools are now all open for the children of key workers and those who are deemed vulnerable as well as those in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 and more recently pupils in Years 10 and 12. We not only thank the staff who are working to look after them but also pray for all involved in their care and to everyone involved in preparing the schools to welcome back their pupils. Please refer to the relevant school website for further information.

St Patrick’s Catholic Nursery and Foundation Unit: There are still currently places available for Foundation 2 (Reception) children for September 2020. If you know of any child who is requiring an FS2 or Nursery place for September 2020 and feel that St Patrick’s School would be the ideal school for them then please could you pass over your information to our office team on 01623 478090 and we can guide you in the right direction. All Saints’ Academy : In light of the fact that the school has been unable to welcome its new Year 7 pupils (current Year 6) students into school for their transition days, it has created a video in an attempt to alleviate any worries which they may have about beginning their secondary school journey and to give the a flavour of what to expect in September. The video may be accessed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg1jP2N3qL0

The CELEBRATE Online Conference: 27th - 28th June 2020 Our events have always been for the whole family - and the online conference is no different. Hear from inspiring speakers, take time to prayerfully retreat, get creative, join with live worship and celebrate Mass together. All the content over the weekend will be hosted on our CELEBRATE Facebook page so make sure you 'Like' and 'Follow' us to not miss anything. A poster with more details is posted on our website. PARISH FINANCES: THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SET UP STANDING ORDER ARRANGEMENTS THUS FAR. If you would like to set up a standing order to cover the amount you would usually put in the collection, please go to our website and click on the News Page where you will find a link to enable you to set up this payment. If you have any queries or experience difficulties, please contact Len Hutton. If you are unable to set up a Standing Order, perhaps you could set aside your weekly offering so that it can be collected when things return to something like normality. Thank you in anticipation of your generosity.
