A big “thank you” to those that supported the cooking con-tests. It kept our judges busy eat-ing and provided additional good-ies for our dinner.
Relay for Life was next. More volunteers came forward to help. The Elks received 3 awards for our donation totaling over $4,000.00. We provided chili, for a donation, with fixings. We made $136.00 in donations. Pat Lo-etterle made the first batch of chili. When we ran out of chili, Mary and Brian Holecheck went home and made another pot of chili.
November 4th will be the time to turn your clocks back and re-place the batteries in your smoke and carbon dioxide alarms. No-vember 11th is Veterans Day and November 22nd will be Thanks-giving. Thanksgiving will be a pot-luck with the Lodge preparing tur-key and ham. Please sign up for what you want to bring and join us for this celebration. Be thankful for all that you have and share with those less fortunate.
We need Elks to step up and help with Friday night dinners and Taco Monday. There will be no Friday Night Dinner on Novem-ber 2, 2018. There are no volun-

FIDELITY
Septembers’ end was great with the Fall Festival. So many of our mem-bers worked 3 hour shifts to serve pulled pork
sandwiches, beans and slaw. Many of these volunteers worked from opening and closing. We had 300+ hours of volunteering. Thank you to those volunteers that worked hard to make this a suc-cess and help the Elks to be rec-ognized in the community.
On the Saturday, during the Fall Festival, the Elks Lodge do-nated food needed for a fund-raising dinner (held at Sanders Winery) for the Blind Community of Pahrump. Due to the volunteers working at the Fall Festival there was only one cook for the 85-person spaghetti dinner, Terri Coleman. When the food pans were ready for delivery I returned to help load the pans. We deliv-ered the food and I went back to the Festival. About 2 hours later I called Terri, at the Lodge, to pre-pare more pulled pork.
October started out with our NSEA State President, Bill Bohnett and First Lady, Sue Ellen, attending our Bones and Brew for his Official Visit. The event was well attended. Bill was one of our official judges for the rib-cooking contest. It has been established that from now on he will judge in the yearly rib-cooking contest! We had several various raffle items including gift baskets, din-ners at local restaurants, oil changes, electric company credit certificates, $100 gift certificate from Jewelry of Romance and much, much more.

Friday Night Dinners
It has been brought up by your ER Chuck Coleman, that If there are no volunteers to do the weekly Friday night dinners, it will have to be can-

NOTICE
Pahrump Lodge is accepting applications for Lodge Treas-urer. This is a non-paying po-sition. If you are interested please submit your resume to the Exalted Ruler, Chuck Coleman.
ELK OF THE MONTH Charlene Brannon
My Elk of the Month is Charlene Brannon. She worked the Drug Trailer, 12 hour days, all 4 days during the Fall Festival. She brought her own cof-fee maker and provided coffee for all of the volun-teers. She helped with the Relay for Life, attends all meetings, fills in for va-cant chairs during Elk meetings and is the cash-ier for many of our meals. She always has a smile and steps up to help and volunteer. Thanks Char for the work you do for this organization.
“Volunteers are unpaid, not because they are worthless, but because
they are price-less.”

Exalted Ruler’s Message
(Continued from page 1)
I have talked with the Valley Electric Company regarding winter heat bills and our Veter-ans. I have been advised they will donate a $50.00 power bill credit for verified Veterans in need. They are in need of items for Hygiene Kits they do-nate to Veterans.
There will be a NO-COST Workshop for Diabetics Self-Management. It is a 6-Week Workshop for Diabetics or those caring for a diabetic. It will be held November 1, 8 and 15. It will be held at the NYECC. Please call Christina for further information or email her at [email protected]. Coming next month: 1. More information about the
Veterans Trike Program. 2. Army of Hope Program. 3. Christmas Giving Tree for
Veterans. If you know of a Veteran just
returning home after a Tour of Duty, please call me and let me know. There are various programs to help. Please call me if you know of a Veteran suffering with PTSD. We are here to help them. Terri Coleman Veterans Chairperson
Our yearly Stand-Down was held October 19th at the Home Depot parking lot. It was great and I was happy to see so many Elks volunteers coming out to help. I want to thank those that answered my call, in the October Bulletin, for men’s’ clothing. There were pillows, blankets, boots, shoes (some band new), toiletries, coats, new socks and new under-wear, caps and much more bags. What a generous out-pouring, THANK YOU. The volunteers helped size items making it easy for Vets to find what they needed. One Vet was touching when he offered to pay for some items he want-ed and could not believe it was free. The remainder of items were taken to the VFW and will be given to the Vets in need this winter. The Vet Donation Box is in the Lobby for your do-nations throughout the year.
Veterans Day is Sunday, No-vember 11th. We are having a Veterans dinner, 5:00 p.m. We are having stuffed shells, sal-ad, vegetable, bread and des-sert. Veterans eat free and all others $8.00. Seating will be limited so please call the Lodge at 775 751-2796 for reserva-tions. There will be a few raffle items with all proceeds going to the Veterans Fund. If you have any items you wish to donate for this raffle, please call me at 775 764-7012 and I may be able to put baskets together. Thank you in advance for help-ing with this fund raiser. At this dinner we will have a short presentation by the Homeless Veterans Solutions. They will answer any questions you may have.
