• There are two sizes of qualification in the BTEC Level 3 Business qualification available:

The aim and purpose of this unit is to give learners an understanding of how marketing, research and planning and the marketing mix are used by all organisations. On completion of this unit a learner should:

• Know the role of marketing in organisations• Be able to use marketing research and marketing planning• Understand how and why customer groups are targeted• Be able to develop a coherent marketing mix

The aim of this unit is for learners to understand the importance of effective team working to an organisation’s success, and to develop skills and knowledge for working in team situations both as a team leader and a team member. On completion of this unit a learner should:

The aim of this unit is to enable learners to develop knowledge of the legislation and regulations relating to health and safety in a business workplace in order to conduct an audit and carry out a risk assessment. On completion of this unit a learner should:

• Understand how health and safety legislation and regulations affect a business working environment• Know the requirements for healthy, safe and productive working conditions• Understand the role and responsibilities of key personnel• Be able to assess and manage risk

• The AAT Accounting Qualification is designed to provide all the practical, everyday skills needed for building a career in finance.

• The AAT Skillcheck should be completed before starting and the result will indicate which AAT level the student should begin studying.

• The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants is a globally recognised, well-respected organisation which focuses on accounting for business.

• CIMA has two main qualifications – The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting and the CIMA Professional Qualification. The Certificate in Business Accounting is the first CIMA Level and is made up of five modules which can be studied in any order.

• The Certificate aims to provide an introduction to the concepts of management accounting and accounting & business, including management accounts, budgets and bookkeeping.

• Students should also gain an in-depth understanding of the economic environment in which companies have to operate.

The Business Skills Library is an online collection of business training videos, ranging from approximately 3 minutes to 30 minutes in length.

The purpose of this library is to provide senior students with the core business skills that are applicable to any business role. These training courses will provide the necessary skills to ensure they can hit the ground running when they start work. They will already know how to handle workplace conflict, irate customers, a full inbox and much more!

Each video includes a short answer quiz and a certificate is available on successful completion.

The results will be sent to your School/Mentor.

These courses are more a supplement to anything else they do or would be suitable for those only able to do the lesser hours. As it contains a large selection of videos, the business sponsor could ask them to focus on particular sections or otherwise just specify the minimum hours and leave it to the student to pick what they are interested in. The courses average around 20 minutes each plus a short quiz.

LearnIT is a computer training concept that allows you to learn by doing – the most effective way of mastering any skill. LearnIT is a comprehensive series of video lessons taken online from your computer. Each lesson allows you to hear and actually use Microsoft’s software. Realistic simulations help you through each lesson click by click so that you remember and retain what you learn.

• Includes training on Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, versions 2007 to 2013, and also Windows 7 and Windows 8.

• Special deal for CAP students gives access to all courses in the LearnIT program.

• The courses are taken online and you have 12 months to complete them.
