The 1 Day Dream Job Challenge North American Edition – Decision Makers Only

Employment Interviews

AND Information Interviews

This program is a one day itinerary designed to help you find work in one day. It was developed to meet the needs of those who do not have a lot of time to

look for work or for those who are running out of time. It is a fast and extremely effective way to make industry connections that lead to work.

People who have done the challenge say that it is “fun”, “you get the most for your time” and “you can even do it with a friend”. The program was tested with several groups in cities across North America. All techniques were used on real people visiting real companies in real cities. This is the final product. At a fraction of the price, this program was designed to offer you massive value at a ridiculously low investment. All you have to do is let the instructions lead you. Here are a few words from those who have completed the challenge: ”I never knew someone could come up with such a brilliant idea…it is like the Amazing Race, so I feel that I have participated in a reality show. And you had everything organized.....I cancelled my trip to NY, Chicago, and Boston in order to participate in this challenge; it's totally worth it!!! I made a good decision. Your idea is great, and best of all, you are such a nice and warm-hearted person.” “I really enjoyed the whole process, it was absolutely exciting. I've tried many times applying for job postings but with no instantaneous results. I would definitely recommend this dream job challenge to my friends.” “…thank you most sincerely for your time, your energy, and the inspiration you gave me to launch my career through this challenge.” “The day provided a valuable networking and relationship-building experience. A lot of applicable life skills…altogether an invaluable day. The one day dream job challenge is amazing!!!” ”The benefit of the whole event for me is that I am more confident now and I have the courage to (pursue my dreams), which I thought was impossible to do. I really appreciate your help. Thank you so much.”

Cheat Sheet WARNING: The information in this document has proven effective for individuals looking to locate career opportunities in one day. Since it has worked for others in the past, it may prove effective for you. If you apply this approach, you will most likely generate career opportunities.

Drop-ins

**Remember, it’s like a first date, both you and the employer will not remember much. The most important element is to bring your body and show up. When you drop in you will book interviews. If you book an interview on the spot, be prepared to use The Magic 3. (see appendix 1.2)

Follow Up

Up to 30% of your success in finding work in your chosen field comes from effective and timely follow up. Many individuals, who have completed this challenge in the past and maintained contact with leads generated, have identified company needs that led to employment. To maximize your success, return calls, send your resume when requested and thank people for their time. Being polite and persistent is the key to your employment success. After Resume Sent: If the employer asks for your resume, give it to them or send it. After you have sent in your resume follow up 24-48 hours after by telephone and state the following: “As requested, I sent you my resume, and the purpose of my call is to arrange a 10-15 minute appointment to discuss employment opportunities. When would be better this week or next?”

Voicemail

Use the same words as you would to book an interview over the phone. At the end, add the following: 1. Your phone number 2. End the call by saying: “Thank you for returning my call.” When employers return your call, say the following: 1. “Thank you for calling. Can you hold a moment while I get my files?” or 2. “Thank you for calling. Can I call you back in 5 minutes?”

Remember This In the end, the most important component in your message is that you are “very interested in the company” and that you are excited about introducing yourself.
