Greeks continue reign at university’s Sammy Awards

Sigma Fraternity, Inc., took home

the title of Outstanding Social

Sorority and Fraternity,

respectively. Several of SHSU

Greek students also earned the

honor of individual leadership

awards. Ramiro Jaime, Phi Delt,

was named Outstanding Non-

Traditional Student Leader, and

to Manuel Martinez, FIJI. Two of

the highest honors given out at the

Sammy’s were earned by Meagan

Greek Life Coordinator

A Glimpse of the 2013-

2014 School Year

This year at The Pantheon, Order of

Omega put on a successful event hosting

over 800 students, faculty, alumni, and

staff. The Dean of Student’s staff came

together to recognize the achievements and

contributions of Greek individuals and their

respective chapters.

Order of Omega recognized 22 student

leaders and approximately 25 Greek

chapters for their hard work and dedication

to the Greek community at SHSU

throughout the year. For the first time in

Pantheon history, four chapters from two

different Greek councils earned the 5-Star

award. This award is given to the highest

achieving chapters in five different

categories: scholarship, service, new

member, organization involvement/

leadership development, and member

development. The graduating members of

Order of Omega were given graduation

cords and were recognized for their work in

the organization and the impact they have

had on the Greek community.

Greek life also took this time to

recognize the addition of a new Greek Life

Coordinator. Alli Miller, a New Orleans

native and graduate of Southeastern

Louisiana University and the University of

Southern Mississippi will serve in this

position, relieving Dean Bias from her role

of Panhellenic Advisor. We have deep

gratitude and appreciation for all of the

work that Dean Bias has given to the Greek

community over the past years.
