The word “doctor” means

teacher and healer. We are in

a never ending battle to educate

patients, friends and family on

what it is exactly what we do. In

my practice, I have found it very

important to have patients

understand what we do and how we can help them.

Patients make better decisions about their health and

what you can bring to them.

The message that was brought to The Chiropractic day

at the Capitol was about education. As we filled the

rooms with fellow chiropractors, we made our presence

known. There was a general surprise at the number of

doctors who had taken the time and effort to represent

their peers, profession and most importantly, patients.

When my patients found out that I was taking the day

off to go to Tallahassee, the cynical question I received

was, “Why even bother going?” I reminded them that

we are going to Tallahassee to fight for their rights to

access chiropractic the way they know it. What I

discovered was, that some of our “friendly” politicians

who stand up on our behalf, barely know what

chiropractic is. Why would they stand up for what we

do when they don’t even know what a chiropractor is?

This is the first time in over 4 decades that there is not

a chiropractor to sit in Tallahassee on our behalf. We

brought a message of safety, efficacy, and

effectiveness with the practice of chiropractic on

musculoskeletal disorders. It is the basics of the benefit

of what chiropractic care has to offer. It was the

unknown display of ignorance that set in the reality that

we should never stop educating. If politicians are going

to fight for our political interests they need to be

educated just like patients do.

For those who did go to the Chiropractic Day at the

Capitol, the PCCS and the FCA greatly thanks you.

We always look to have more come each and every

year.

This month we are having Dr. David Hogsed speak

about “Drugs that Deplete Essential Nutrients”. As

always, we are looking forward to having great

information to share to patients.
