Automated Account Management (AAM)
What is it?
• AAM is an automated account de-provisioning tool
How does it work?
• Let’s take a further look…

Office of Information Security (AAM) (Slide 2)
• AAM is triggered when a user separates and their DEFINE appointment is no longer active
• Accounts are partially de-provisioned on the separation date
• Partially de-provisioned consists of:
• Revoking e-mail access
• Hiding the user from the Global Address List (GAL)
• Moving the account to the Pending De-provision OU

• A notification is emailed to the supervisor which includes a link to the AAM tool (https://aam.utsa.edu)
• The supervisor can request an extension for the user to continue accessing their account
• The supervisor can request others be given access to the separated user’s account
• All requests are approved/disapproved by Legal
• An email is sent to the supervisor with the disposition of the request

• After 30 days any partially de-provisioned accounts are fully de-provisioned (if not extended)
• Full de-provisioning consists of:
• Disabling the account
• Removing all memberships (except for applicable student access)
• Removing the user login script
• Moving the account to the Disabled OU or back to the Student OU

• The account memberships are retained in a database if the employee should return at a later date
• Emeritus will have email for life while retired faculty will have it for one year
• If a user gets a new assignment, they will be partially de-provisioned and automatically re-provisioned based on the new appointment
