The Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation organizes several events annually to raise money in support of programs and patients at the hospital. One of the most anticipated events each year is Climbing for Kids. 2014 marks the ninth annual Climbing for Kids event.

In mid-August, participants will climb 14,000 feet to the summit of Mt. Bierstadt in a symbolic gesture that recognizes the upward struggle many children face when undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital Colorado. This year’s event will support the hospital’s Heart Institute, Learning Services, and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences.

The annual event was organized in memory of Jason T. Pearl, who underwent groundbreaking heart surgery at Children’s Hospital Boston, which gave him and his family an extra 21 years together.

Individuals can learn more about the event online at ChildrensColoradoFoundation.org, including how to participate or sponsor the event’s climbers. The foundation asks that climbers raise at least $200 in sponsorship donations to participate in Climbing for Kids.
