September is National Senior Center Month! It’s an opportunity to showcase the importance of senior centers and promote positive aging. We are one of the largest senior centers in the area with over 1,000 members, plus hundreds of homebound seniors that we support through our Meals on Wheels and Chelsea Community Senior Services (C2S2) programs. Our Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers work hard to offer a wide range of programs and services that support positive aging. To further advocate for resources that are important to our senior community, our Board of Directors will be monitoring and responding to issues that affect seniors locally and nationally. For example, should funding for Meals on Wheels be at risk, our Board members will respond and provide public awareness to ensure that this critical program remains viable. Issues that impact our organization and the lives of seniors we serve, will be thoughtfully re-viewed by our Board members to ensure that any advocacy aligns with our mission and core values. Our goal is always to better serve our community and our senior citizens.

The Grass Lake Senior Center is a satellite of the Chelsea Senior Center which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organiza on. The Grass Lake Center is

wholly funded by community grants and dona ons. Your $25 annual membership fee and occasional par cipa on fees support the Grass Lake

5 Healthy Towns; the Grass Lake Downtown Development Authority, and the Grass Lake Charter Township.

Senior Focused Exercise: Work out at your own pace with our certified instructors. $1 per class thanks to funding from St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea.

Sewing: Join a fun group of seam-stresses who meet each week to make dresses and dolls and other items to donate to under-privileged children around the world.

Mah Jongg: Come learn to play and/or play.

Line Dancing: Join Sally Shock for line dancing each Tuesday af-ternoon. September 12, Sally will start “new” again. Great time for new line dancers to start. Drop ins welcome. $3 m/$4 nm per class.

Enjoy a hot lunch and great company at noon each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the Grass Lake Senior Center. Suggested donation of $2.50. Call to order 1 day prior 517.522.8466.

We are able to provide you with low-cost, nutritionally balanced, tasty lunches thanks to our partnership with the Jackson County Department on Aging.

Wii Bowling: Play standing or sitting and we have many experts on hand who will patiently teach you what you need to know.

Ping Pong: With 2 tables set up, you’ll be able to play as much or as little as you want.

Ping Pong Night: 2nd Monday of each month from 6:30-8:30 pm

Quilting: Bring your latest project and enjoy quilting and chatting and sharing ideas.

Game Night: Looking for a Wednes-day night out? Join us for fun, snacks and friendly board and card games!

Bingo: Join us most Wednesdays, 5 cents a game!
