photographer of Morrissey and Associates, a Longmont-based commercial photography organization, will be the featured speaker at the Flatirons Photo Club meeting and com-petition at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Har HaShem Synagogue in Boulder.

Morrissey is the recipient of numerous awards from Canon and Kodak and is a Phase One featured photographer. Published internationally more than 100,000 times, he holds a degree in photography from the Kansas City Art Institute and has more than 25 years experience in the field. He has been published in almost every photographic genre and style there is.

Morrissey also is the author of iPhoneogra-

phy Pro: Techniques for Taking Your iPhone Photography to the Next Level; Commercial Photographer’s Master Lighting Guide; and Master Lighting Guide for Commercial Photographers.

Flatirons Photo Club member Mia Mes-tagh is organizing a club trip to the Monte Vista Crane Festival from March 11-13.

Each spring, some 20,000 Sandhill Cranes arrive near Monte Vista for a two-month stop before migrating to their breed-ing grounds further north.

The festival includes guided sunrise and sunset bus tours, full-day photography workshops (limited to 8 peiple each day), as well as workshops, movies, expert pre-

sentations and a craft fair.Monte Vista is located in the San Luis

DARKROOM PHOTO GALLERY CONTEST OFFERS $1,000 PRIZE: The Darkroom photo gallery in Longmont is sponsoring a photography competition with a $1,000 cash prize for first place, cash prizes for second and third place, honorable mentions and an exhibition. The theme is “Architecture. Structure. Form.” and is open to entries nationwide. The judge is national award-winning architec-tural photographer Kate Zari Roberts, who has been a presenter and judge at Flatirons Photo Club meetings.
