Aftertwoyearsofstrongrecovery,theIndianeconomyhasbeen

on a slowdown path from last year and indications are that the

growthwill remain subdued for some time. This reminds us of

the period of late 1990s and early 2000s, when a similar fall in

economic activity prompted amassive restructuringwithin the

Indian corporate sector. Productivitywent up andGDP growth

mannerinwhichMr.Singhhandledstudents’queriesanddoubts.

Heendedtheeveningonahighnote, leavingstudentstoponderover how they could be visionaries for the coming future. It isperhaps then an understatement to say that every student felt privilegedtohaveattendedthesession.

Mr. Rakesh KumarTrue genius of a person is not inthe reflection of his knowledgebut in how enable others to relate to that knowledge. This fact wasfurtherprovedbyMr.RakeshKumar,Chairman, GlobalQualitative Board& Head of Africa-Middle East-AsiaPacific, Firefly Millward Brown, who visited the institute onAugust

He very enthusiastically talked about two of the major forcesaffectingthebusinessworldtoday, thatare, ‘therulesforbrandengagement in the socialmedia space’ and ‘themirror has twofaces–dissectinghumanpersonalitiesinthesocialmediaspace.’

Also, thetopicwassuchthatthestudents immediatelywarmedto it. However, it was Mr. Kumar’s proficient handling of thesimpleandattimesbasicqueriesofthestudentsthatmadethesession truly informative. 1. How do you see the general business scenario unfold in India in the coming years?

A. India has adapted to new global realities tremendously. Thenew buzzwords are “productivity”, “quality”, “marketing”, and“management structure”. Both imports and exports are rising, and overseas markets are being tested by newly confident Indiancompanies. Foreign companies, sensing India’s potential, have alsobecomeincreasinglyinvolvedhere.Thisisbeingdonebyintroducinggreater competition in the economy through progressive internalderegulation accompanied by foreign direct investment and tradeliberalization.Inspiteoftheglobalmeltdown,Indianeconomyoffersampleopportunitiesforbusiness,bothtothedomesticandforeignentrepreneurs.So,thefuturebusinessscenarioappearstobebright.

3. In what ways is FORE School of Management different from its competitors?

4. FORE School of Management has received National A** grading for its PGDM programme by CRISIL. What steps are you taking to achieve 3 star grading on national level?

A.When CRISIL approached us to do an assessment to gradeus, wewere a bit skeptical about it in the beginning. However, considering the flood of “perception based ranking’ and someother ‘performance data’ based rankings using unnatural orabnormal weights of different evaluation components withoutanytruthfulverificationofdataprovidedbytheB-Schoolsmakingmostofthese rankings looknon-convincing,wefeltthatCRISILgradingwillatleastbeatransparentgradingandwillthusprovideuswithmuchneededindependentfeedback.TheyhavegivenustheNationalA**andwehavelookedattheirreportandwearestrengthening the areas needing attention including setting upa new residential campus at Sonepat (Haryana).
