ANNUAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF
INDIAN PSYCHIATRICSOCIETY
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to ANCIPS 2016
It is time once again to come together to discuss and deliberate on issues related to a
broad range of current and emerging subjects of behavioural sciences. The canvas will
obviously be wide as we know psychiatry itself is an overarching subject of medical
science.
Indian Psychiatric Society crossed its 67th milestone in its march towards progress. We are
now meeting at the capital of Madhya Pradesh: Bhopal, the beautiful “City of Lakes”.
Professional conferences do not just serve as a forum of interaction for delegates but also
help to generate interest and awareness about the subject in general public. The theme
”Translational Psychiatry- Braining the Mind” is chosen to highlight the scientific
foundations of psychiatry and how this knowledge gets translated into discovery and
delivery of mental health needs of the community. An emphasis on scientific basis should
help to dispel misconceptions in psychiatry and reduce stigma to a substantial degree.
It is heartening to note that the Organizers are sparing no efforts to present a rich
scientific and gastronomic repast. In addition to the staples, topics at the very cutting
edge of modern psychiatry are included. All that needs is your enthusiastic participation.
Bhopal and its environs with its rich history, culture and heritage, offers illimitable
opportunities to explore and savour. We are looking to an enriching, enlightening and a
thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Let us all join together along with our families and carry forward our Society to cross yet
another significant milestone.
Long live Indian Psychiatric Society!
Dear Colleagues,
Come home to Bhopal !
WELCOME TO THE HEART OF INDIA
It is a matter of immeasurable pride and honour to all of us here to welcome you all for th
the 68 Annual National conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS 2016). The
thought that the conference is happening for the first time in the state of Madhya
Pradesh and that it delivers an opportunity to us to play host to all of you brings us
unbounded joy. WELCOME
Madhya Pradesh has strong mornings in tradition at the same time marching ahead as a
progressive state in all fields. Madhya Pradesh is quintessential India: heady mixture of
heritage and high science. The state holds in its bosom charms of unimaginable variety:
you can seek an appointment with the King of the Jungle, opt for a leisurely lake or river
cruise, seek solace in spirituality of many faiths or just wander in the wonder environs of
the venue itself!
Bhopal, popularly known as the “CITY OF LAKES” is its capital. It holds, at a minimum,
ten thousand years of written history of man etched on stone! Very few cities in the
world can match this heritage! Satellites are tracked from here! Bhopal is home to 100
Engineering and 5 Medical Colleges and as many universities! Add any number of
National Institutes! We could say more but would not like to jump the gun.
At the conference we hope to hear luminaries and acknowledged masters telling us
about psychiatry of today, tomorrow and beyond and also look forward to the
emerging and young displaying their acumen in full measure to give us a glimpse of the
great future ahead for mental health in India. We are planning to offer you some hands-
on experience in basic sciences like genetics, immunology, electrophysiology and
others by means of specially designed workshops besides the regular conference items.
Stay tuned to us.
It is our fervent desire to put some pleasant memories in your conference kit, and hearts
perhaps, for you to carry home to reminisce and cherish.

MADHYA PRADESH
Exploit the opportunity and experience Madhya Pradesh
Literally and metaphorically it is the heart of India. Spread over 300000 square kilometres, and with a
population of 70 million it is large; endowed with rich cultural heritage and Mother Nature's benign blessings.
Twenty percent of population belongs to various tribes. It is home to 11 National Parks and 3 Biosphere Reserves. The
great river Narmada flows through the state in the rift valley of Vindhya and Satpura Ranges. The ancient cities of
Ujjain and Vidisha are continuosly inhabited for 3000 years!! Kalidasa wrote his eternal classics here. Kipling lived
here. Mian Tansen and Baiju Bawra enthralled the Gods with their celestial voices from here. No wonder the state is
home to 3 Gharanas: Gwalior, Maihar and Senia. Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar were born here! There are
many national institutes of science here. The game Snooker was born at Jabalpur. Bhopal Badshahs are a force in
Hockey. Holkars of Indore are cricket pioneers.
The state boasts of 3 World Heritage Sites in Khajuraho, Sanchi and Bhimbetka. Panna has the largest
diamond deposits in the country. The devout can seek the blessings of Mahadeo at Mahakaleshwar or Omkareshwar
; romantics may find much to fill hearts at Khajuraho; health afficionados may fill their lungs with pure oxygen at
Pachmarhi hills. There are many places for those who are inclined to laze and moon!

WEATHER AT BHOPAL
PEOPLE'S WORLD – THE VENUE
You are predicted to rue if you miss!
Bhopal is located at a height of 1730 ft. Weather at the time of conference will be cold (average temperature 10.5 ⁰C)
with a passing light drizzle at times. You need to carry some warm clothing with you. If you plan to visit some of the
jungle resorts we suggest you carry your walking shoes.
Hindi is the main language spoken here. You can manage in English .
The venue for the conference is People's World: a special entertainment zone of few hundred acres of steel and
concrete of sheer poetry set in lush green by people with vision.
The three halls located in the land locked ship “Princess of Sea” will form the hub of the conference. Each hall has a
distinct style and can seat 3000 discerning guests. There is ample space for any number of concurrent sessions and
scientific exhibitions within the premises.
Artistically crafted areas are there within the precincts for hosting Banquets and lunches. You will find a TAJMAHAL
and REDFORT here which can put the originals at Agra and Delhi at distinct unease. Even the parking lot here is a
piece of art made to please the most phlegmatic: it can swallow a thousand cars without a demur.
As you are assimilating the intellectual repast interacting with the best brains in the business your children can
gambol and frolic in glee in the inviting environs; your partners can explore the charms of the sprawling mall, gaming
zones or just laze in the lounge of PEOPLE'S INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT!
Actually we are not saying much. Come and experience the ambience.
We will accommodate many of you in the stunningly beautiful surroundings on site. Bhopal is bustling and beautiful:
It can accommodate many and more.
Madhya Pradesh, and Bhopal in particular, offers unimaginable opportunities to see and savour or just let down your
hair and stretch your legs in the lap of nature in its pristine glory. Madhya Pradesh tourism is extending all help to
