German
German language and literature work was carefully chosen to show examples of German military success, of sacrifice for the Fatherland and the long traditions of the German people.
“A Russian soldier tried to get in the way, but Otto’s bayonet slid gratingly between his ribs, so that he collapsed groaning. There it lay before him, simple and distinguished, his dream’s desire, the Iron Cross” - Extract from a reading book for 14 year olds, The Battle of Tannenburg

On take-off with all bombs on board and a fuel tank containing 100kg of fuel, the aircraft weighs 8000kg. When it returns from the crusade, the bomber has dropped all it’s bombs and used all but 5kg of it’s fuel. What is the weight of the aircraft when empty?"

Biology – Next week "Just as it is often
hard to tell a toadstool from an edible mushroom, so too it is often very hard to recognize the Jew as a swindler and criminal..."
Geography The Treaty of
Versailles robbed the German people of their rightful lands
German-speaking people in Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Poland desire to join the Reich and work towards the restoration of German power and the creation of a German empire in Europe.
We must overthrow the illegal rulings of the Treaty of Versailles and achieve Anschluss, reunion with Austria.
The German people also need land to expand into, this lebensraum must be taken from countries to the East.
Physical Education
Hitler had stated that he wanted boys who could suffer pain.........."a young German must be as swift as a greyhound, as tough as leather, and as hard as Krupp's steel."
PE took up 15% of a school's weekly timetable. Boxing became compulsory for boys.
Physical Education
Please revise the following guidelines for a test next week.
Nazi Racial Policy Bureau, ten rules to be observed when considering a marriage partner (1934)
Remember you are a German. Remain pure in mind and spirit! Keep your body pure! If hereditarily fit, do not remain single! Marry only for love. Being a German, only choose a husband of similar or
related blood! When choosing your husband, inquire into his or her
forebears! Health is essential to outward beauty as well! Seek a companion in marriage, not a playmate. Hope for as many children as possible! Your duty is
to produce at least four offspring in order to ensure the future of the national stock.
Schools and selection
For boys considered special, different schools were created. Those who were physically fitter and stronger than the rest went to Adolf Hitler Schools where they were taught to be the future leaders of Germany. Six years of tough physical training took place and when the pupils from these schools left aged 18, they went to the army or to university.
The very best pupils went to Order Castles. These were schools which took pupils to the limits of physical endurance. War games used live ammunition and pupils were killed at these schools.
Those who graduated from the Order Castles could expect to attain a high position in the army or the SS.
Hitler Youth (Hitler Jugend) Who is the odd one out?
Hitler Youth (Hitler Jugend) “He who serves our Führer, Adolf Hitler,
serves Germany, and he who serves Germany, serves God.” - Baldur von Schirach speaking to Hitler Youth, 25th July, 1936
The Hitler Youth Law of Dec 1st 1936 gave Hitler Youth equal status to school and home - this made it virtually impossible to avoid joining the organisation
The Second Hitler Youth Law, passed on 25th March 1939 made membership of Hitler Youth ‘a duty of youth service to Germany’. Members had to swear an oath to the Führer.
