I hope you have enjoyed these lazy, hazy, HOT days of summer and are looking forward to some cooler weather! With 4-H Camp and County Fairs behind us, I know everyone is busy getting ready for State Fair, 4-H School and Projects clubs, Homemaker Clubs, and the many projects that fall pro- gramming brings. I hope you will take time to participate in and take advantage of some of the benefits of being a Chi Epsilon Sigma member: Staff Appreciation Day, our Annual Membership Drive and Community Service project, Scholarships and Awards, and attend our Annual Meeting in April 2011.
Staff Appreciation Day is Wednesday, September 15th and Chi Epsilon Sigma will have our annual Member Reception in the Culton Suite of the E.S. Good Barn from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Please make plans to join us to catch up with old friends while making some new ones! Invite that staff member in your office or department that isn’t a member to come with you and experience the excite- ment and camaraderie of our organization. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. and displays will be in Gorham Hall of the Good Barn. CHIES will have a table and we need YOUR help to welcome and encourage new members to join and hand out promotional items. If you are willing to volunteer for a 30 minute shift, please contact Linda Martin, Annalist in Logan County at 270-726-6323.
Our Annual Membership Drive has begun and our Community Service Project this year is the Bluegrass Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Board of Directors chose this organization to support this year so that we might be able to help our brother and sisters who have been devastated by all of the flooding in Eastern Kentucky. Please consider donating this year; no amount is too small and will help aid in rebuilding their lives. Your donation may be added to your membership fee. Also, don’t forget to renew your membership before the October 15th deadline!
Please take advantage of our scholarships and awards that are offered this year! Do you have a child or grandchild who will be attending college or vocational school this year? If so, would you like a little financial help? Chi Epsilon Sigma will be awarding (2) $250 scholarships this year to students who are enrolled in 6 hours or more at an institute of higher learning. Please have them fill out the scholarship application (on our website) and return to Sherry Taylor in Warren County before September 10th.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars and plan to attend our 2011 Annual Meeting to be held April 13th-15th at
General Butler State Park, Carrollton! Your Board of Directors voted to bring back our theme contest this year, so I challenge you to put your thinking caps on, turn in your proposals, and help make this the best annual meeting yet! Be creative ~ a cash prize of $100 will be awarded to the individual(s) whose theme is selected. Watch your email for details coming soon!
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your President for 2010-2011. I consider it an honor and privilege and I look forward to another great year in this wonderful organization! Please don’t hesitate to contact me or any board member if you have any ideas, questions, or concerns. This is your organization and YOU make Chi Epsilon Sigma the awesome group that it is!
Looking forward to seeing you on Staff Appreciation Day!
