ou must have heard of India fast climbing the ranks of ‘Ease of Doing Business’. But have

Yyouever thought of ‘Ease of Logistics’. When India is on the move to adopt IT-enabled ‘Smart’ business solutions, isn’t it time to lay down ‘smart logistic solutions’ for the IT hub state of

India!!!

Software exports are synonymous with Karnataka, even then it has carved a niche in merchandise trade as well. No wonder exports from Karnataka have been on the rise, contributing to about 13% of India’s exports. It’s one of 17 states to have an Export Strategy, resulting export oriented industrial growth. Karnataka has one major sea port at Mangalore, and one of the busiest airports is at Bengaluru. However, compared to the state’s contribution to EXIM economy, a lot more is desirable on the infrastructure front. While the difficult terrain of Western Ghats pose logistic challenge, on theother hand a well developed national highway network connecting Karnataka to the ports at Chennai, Ennore, Krishnapatnam, Kattupalli and Cochin provide additional gateways to the far East and West. The state has an operational ICD at Whitefield, one of the busiest in the country. Additionally, 7 CFSs and 1 air freight station take care of last mile and hinterland connectivity. The state has formal approvals for 62 SEZs, 41 notified SEZs, and 25 exporting SEZs. Karnataka’s contribution in EXIM is evident from 422 operational EOUs, the maximum in any state in India.

The state’s key industries are sunrise sectors - automotive, textiles, aerospace, agro productssuch as gherkins, granite, furniture, pharmaceuticals, engineering, electronics and telecom. Karnataka is poised to be the bright spot among India’s EXIM cargo hubs. Being the IT capital of India, now it is time for exporters and importers of KARNATAKA to claim stake to ‘SMART LOGISTICS SOLUTIONS’ to transport valued cargo with ‘EASE’. After an astounding response to the Karnataka Logistics Summit in 2016, NAMMA BENGALURU is host to the “Smart Logistics Summit & Awards 2017”, taking place on Friday, 3rd November 2017 at The Leela Palace, with the theme ‘Logistics Strategy for a Vibrant EXIM Hub’.

Through thoughtful and constructive sessions and interactions, the summit is an annual platform to bring together logistics service providers, port & terminal operators, shipping lines, freight forwarders, CFS & ICD operators, exporters/importers, merchandise traders and manufacturers, deemed exporters, trade associations and the government to deliberate on the existing logistics challenges and explore opportunities to make logistics smart. Smart logistics will improve delivery reliability and simplify the supply chain management, benefiting the EXIM community. The business sessions will be followed by a glittering night of ‘AWARDS’ to recognise outstanding achievements and exceptional accomplishments of individuals and organizations in the logistics sector.
