Even though our primary focus was deer there was ample opportunity for harvesting an elk and even a couple chances at a bear. The weather, though cold, worked with us very well and kept game moving late in the day and had them getting out of their beds early.

This Type of Hunt was Spot and Stalk Get as high as possible and watch every drainage you could. We glassed over several nice bucks and harvested this 28 inch 3x4 on the 4th day of a 5 day hunt. This is a very respectable deer for a public land hunt. We were roughly 6 miles back on horse which removed a lot of the pressure. In fact, the entire 7 days (1 in-5 hunt-1 out), we only saw 2 other horse back hunters.

They lived up to thier wordThe accommodations consisted of a warm breakfast burrito in the morning, a sack lunch in the afternoon and hearty dinner at the end of the evening. They lived up to everything they advertised in their flyer, including the lots of hiking.

Montana Hunting - Be PreparedYou better come to this hunt prepared to put on some miles, just like any Montana hunt, the terrain and elevation can get to you if you are not prepared. The terrain was relatively open with your average shot opportunity around 250 yards. Once the game was down, they took care of it from there. Caped and quartered, we headed back down the mountain on the horses.
